Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Associate Video Producer edits and occasionally shoots videos for PEOPLE’s social media and app, with an emphasis on “verticalizing” longform video features and creating social teasers/trailers for bombshell, exclusive interviews. Their mission is to ensure that PEOPLE’s social and app video content is visually arresting and narratively compelling. This person should have passion for shortform storytelling, an expertise in video producing and editing, and a desire to entice people to watch and engage with content. They must know how to hook and hold busy users’ attention. The ideal candidate knows how to make videos go viral on TikTok and Reels. They must be comfortable producing celebrity talent. 

The  Associate Video Producer will report to the Senior Video Producer. They will work closely with the PEOPLE Video team to edit exclusive video interviews and concepts for social and the PEOPLE app, turning raw footage into social gold. They will also work closely with a team of motion graphics designers to develop and execute visuals for social series and tentpoles. 

This role will require industry experience and the ability to join meetings and assist with guidance of other team members. They must be able to balance different projects based on business priorities and the news cycle, delivering high-quality videos on deadline. 

II. Essential Job Functions

70% - Produce and edit videos for social and the PEOPLE app

20% - Work closely with reporters, editors, content creators, designers and the Video team 

10% - Attend events on behalf of brand and capture content, and other duties as assigned

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

BA or BS and/or equivalent experience

Experience:

Experience at a national news brand is preferred. At least 2 years experience is required. 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

• Proven success in building and growing audiences for media sites and digital brands

• An understanding of social media with a focus on reaching Gen Z audiences 

• Expertise in video editing using Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and AVID

• Expertise in TikToks and Reels

• A unique voice that fits and evolves the People brand, coupled with a passion for creating, dissecting and consuming all kinds of content

• A sharp eye when it comes to editing content thoroughly on tight deadlines

• Availability to attend live events for the People brand and capture content

• Superior written and verbal communication skills

• Experience shooting video, including camera operation, lighting, and basic audio setup for interviews and on-location shoots

% Travel Required (Approximate): not anticipated, but may be assigned

Pay Range

Salary: New York: $67,000.00 - $67,000.00

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of People Inc's total compensation package for employees.
