Are you ready to set the standard for premium footwear?

Main Purpose of the Role:

The Associate Product Developer/Designer, Footwear & Accessories is a full-time role for a candidate who is equally driven by design creativity and the development process. This hybrid position is heavily focused on footwear — from concept sketching and tech pack creation through to vendor communication and production — with a supporting role in accessories. The ideal candidate brings a passion for quality footwear, a strong eye for trend, and the organizational discipline to manage development calendars across overseas vendors. This position requires a collaborative self-starter who can work cross-functionally across Design, R&D, Tech, and Production teams.

Major Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Footwear Design & Development:
  • Support the design and development of seasonal footwear collections aligned with market trends and brand direction
  • Research seasonal concepts, color palettes, and materials; develop and present trend reports
  • Identify appropriate lasts, bottoms, uppers, and target materials each season
  • Create detailed footwear sketches and CADs using Adobe Illustrator
  • Execute tech packs from initial development through confirmation sample/production
  • Communicate updates and revisions to overseas vendors and manufacturing partners
  • Manage the sampling process in collaboration with vendors and cross-functional teams
  • Attend fit sessions, write technical comments, and ensure product is on calendar and within cost
  • Maintain and update line guides, proto/PP samples, and PLM
  • Use data to proactively identify selling opportunities and inform design decisions

Product Development/Production:
  • Communicate daily with manufacturers to ensure specs, quality standards, and deadlines are met
  • Independently negotiate, set and approve target FOB costs and retails and ensure margins are maintained
  • Coordinate approval of materials, trims, and color details between Design and vendors
  • Own WIPs, PLM updates and costing processes from concept through production
  • Negotiate FOB/DDP costs and support vendor consolidation for cost leverage
  • Act as liaison between Design and Buying to ensure MOQs and costs are within targets
  • Independently own calendar deadlines and flag risks proactively

Cross-Functional & Administrative:
  • Serve as a key communicator across Design, Buying, Supply Chain, and Purchasing
  • Receive and log in samples, assist in sample and package send outs
  • Source and organize trims and materials
  • Support ad-hoc tasks as directed by management
Required Competencies:

  • Comprehend the beginning, middle and end of design and product development processes specifically for oversea vendors
  • Possess strong knowledge in footwear construction and specifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Deadline focused and goal driven
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and short lead calendar
  • Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 10 lbs., perform frequent repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4–+ years of experience in footwear design and/or product development
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop; PLM experience a plus
  • Experience working with overseas vendors and manufacturing partners
  • Strong Excel skills and computer proficiency
  • Solution oriented and critical thinker
  • Deadline focused and goal driven
  • Team player and ability to multitask

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Footwear Design, Product Development, Fashion Design, or related field
  • Familiarity with costing, FOB negotiations, and vendor capacity management
  • Experience with PLM or similar product management platforms

A successful candidate works well in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision. At REVOLVE, we all roll up our sleeves to pitch in and do whatever it takes to get the job done. Each day is a little different — it's what keeps us on our toes and excited to come to work every day.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
