POSITION SUMMARY 


Our Financial Aid Director helps change student lives every day while serving as the Financial Aid Advisor and Team leader of the Financial Aid Department at the Campus.  The successful candidate will be a self-disciplined person who can cultivate positive, supportive relationships with Financial Aid team members, lending institutions, guarantee agencies, and regulatory entities. The Financial Aid Director acts as a Coordinating Official for the purposes of administering Title IV funds.  Collaborates with Campus Support for the purposes of administering financial aid. The work is faster-than-average and requires a confident leadership style that encourages results-driven, task-oriented collaboration. Must have the ability to engage, motivate and build an effective team using a lively and inclusive communication style. She/he must also be able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with issues while collaborating in a customer-focused manner with other campus departments like Admissions, Academics, and Student Services.  Success in this role is measured by the student experience, accurate and timely financial packaging rates, leadership development, and timely receipt of student funding. 

 
The Associate Director of Financial Aid oversees that Financial Aid Advisors and the administration of financial aid programs to prospective and active students. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to performing a variety of duties associated with the awarding, disbursing and returning of federal, state and other financial aid assistance programs. The Associate Director reports directly to the Campus Director and has accountability to the Corporate Director of Financial Aid.  

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 

 
Provide information to students and parents regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures. Explain Financial Aid plans to students and parents; review their rights and responsibilities with regards to financial aid programs.  


  • Serving as the primary contact for students with financial aid related questions by counseling incoming and current students on financial aid resources. 

  • Replying to all departmental correspondences and messages within 24 hours. 

  • Working with other departments on achieving enrollment and retention goals. 

  • Assisting in onboarding and training new advisors. 

  • Providing and maintaining reports as needed. 

  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Campus Director/Corporate Director of Financial Aid. 

  • Review financial aid applications, forms and documentation for completeness and accuracy; verify information reported on FAFSA to determinate eligibility. Complete verification procedures where needed. 

  • Input FASFA, review resulting ISIR and maintain financial aid funding schedule in CLASS. 

  • Provide entrance and exit counseling. 

  • Answer questions, inquires or requests from students or parents 

  • Responsible for complete and accurate files and paperwork. 

  • Maintain a close working relationship with Admission and other personnel. 

  • Remain current on all applicable laws and regulations. 

  • Attend financial aid workshops and conferences 

  • Supervises, trains and evaluates department staff; works with staff to assign responsibilities, determines department priorities and procedures.  

  • Attends meetings and conferences, reviews newsletters, and reports. 

  • Prepares reports for the Corporate Director of Financial Aid as requested.  

  • Supports and actively participates in the College’s major initiatives for process improvement in financial aid and other areas.  

  • Adhere to institutional policies and procedures.  

  • Participate in required meetings and trainings. 

  • Performs all other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of government regulations and guidelines relating to financial aid and Title IV. 

  • Demonstrated skills in modeling a strong customer service orientation. 

  • Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and the public. 

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. 

  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to manage sensitive, confidential issues. 

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. 

  • Detail oriented and produces work that is accurate. 

  • Demonstrated Computer literacy skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, and Outlook and internet. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. 

  • A minimum of one year of Financial Aid experience is required. 

  • Experience with Student Financial Aid software applications is a plus. 

  • 40 hrs per week
