Job Description

The Assistant Investor & Promotions role is designed to build a strong understanding of the local audio and video landscape, as well as the negotiation process, with the goal of advancing into an Investor role. This is a unique hybrid role that includes building knowledge of media marketplace trends and developing a holistic, top-line understanding of all Local audio and video platforms, as well as promotional activations— including AM/FM radio, digital audio, satellite radio, podcasting, cable TV, broadcast television, and digital video.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

70% – Administrative

  • Support Local One Investors & Promotions strategist with day-to-day administrative tasks.
  • Key responsibilities include:
    • Develop a strong understanding of the media landscape, including media terminology and the structure of local audio, TV, and representative firms across the U.S.
    • Order and confirm media buys, manage makegoods, monitor the placement of scheduled spots, track added value, and handle billing reconciliation.
    • Collect and organize recap materials from completed promotions campaigns, ensuring all documents are client-ready.
    • Manage Local One & Promotional makegoods and input traditional spot/web added value into quarterly tracking charts, meeting all deadlines.
    • Monitor scheduled promotions and assist with the sharing of assets, Talent IOs, and other deliverables as needed.
    • Maintain the Local One station contact database and rep lists on a quarterly basis.
    • Keep buy files accurate and up to date with complete financial information aligned with the buying system.
    • Manage buying responsibilities from pre-buy to post-buy for small markets.
    • Assume Strategist responsibilities for small promotional requests, coordinating and overseeing project execution.

10% – Client Management

  • Support Promotions & Investors and the Brand Solutions Team by implementing work-related goals on behalf of clients.
  • Review and understand buying guidelines, goals, and objectives with Strategists & Investors.
  • Review and understand promotion guidelines, goals, and objectives with Strategists & Investors.

10% – Networking

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor partners and Horizon Media's internal buying teams to foster integration and collaboration.
  • Participate in Horizon Media’s Media 101 program to gain a comprehensive understanding of the agency's operations and connect with peers across departments.

10% – Training & Development

  • Learn and develop a deep understanding of the media landscape and promotions process, including media terminology.
  • Gain foundational knowledge of Local One across traditional, digital, streaming, and new media platforms.
  • Take advantage of HMI Go Learn classes to strengthen day-to-day skills and professional growth.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work or internship experience
  • Proficiency working within Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and Strata View & SBMS
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, good communication skills, ability to recognize problems & identify solutions, willingness to learn & grow

Salary Range

$40,000.00 - $50,000.00
