Remote: This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of Mountain View, you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.
The Role
The Software Delivery team is a critical component of GM's Software & Services Engineering organization. Our objective is to ensure reliability, performance, and consistency in the software and services GM ships. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will help drive and organize the team that creates processes, platforms, and tools that empower us to build, integrate, and deliver GM's world class customer experiences.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as Directly Responsible Individual on key initiatives.
  • Provide support and guidance to engineering leaders and individual contributor team members.
  • Organize and manage activities that cross-cut Software Delivery's individual departments. Activities include: software, hardware, and personnel budget management; engineering roadmapping planning; quarterly engineering roadmap tuning; organizing personnel calibration exercises; and managing execution and strategy meetings (eg. departmental off-site workshops, senior management project reviews, etc.)
  • Help drive continual improvement of SDLC best practices, eliminating inefficiencies and improving quality.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication and alignment between Software Delivery and partner teams.
  • Facilitate communication to the Software Delivery org.
  • Help drive technical, organizational, and business decisions and strategy.
  • Serve as trusted collaborator on strategic and tactical planning.
  • Work closely with partner teams within GM to align and collaboratively achieve business and project goals.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • At least 20 years of software industry experience, preferably including technical hands-on work.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and well-tuned organizational skills.
  • Deep experience with a variety of software development team personas.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and social skills.
  • Proven track record of building alignment between cross-functional teams.

Compensation : The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
  • The salary range for this role is $165,000 to $298,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
