About Cenfire

At Cenfire, we are reinventing the most fundamental building block in electronics: the switch. Our silicon-based MEMS switch technology is smaller, faster, and more reliable than anything on the market. It opens new possibilities in semiconductor test, automotive, energy distribution, and other high-reliability applications.

We are backed by leading investors, working with global partners, and scaling quickly. This is your opportunity to join early, define how our company communicates with the world, and play a hands-on role in building a brand that will shape trillion-dollar industries.

Why This Role

This role establishes Cenfire's Applications Engineering function. You will be the technical bridge between our product and our customers working directly with design, test, and systems engineers to understand their requirements, guide them through evaluation and integration of our MEMS switch technology, and solve the hard problems that come up along the way.

You will own the technical content that helps customers succeed with our product: datasheets, application notes, whitepapers, and technical presentations. You will define test methodologies and evaluation procedures, support the sales team on technical calls and design reviews, and build the processes and tools needed to scale applications support as Cenfire grows. This role requires both deep technical fluency and the communication skill to translate that expertise for a range of audiences from design engineers to executives.

As the first Applications Engineering hire, you will shape the function from the ground up and lay the groundwork for a team as the company scales.

What You Will Bring

We are looking for an applications leader who is equally comfortable with hands-on engineering and customer-facing communication. You should be able to translate complex engineering concepts into clear, accurate technical documentation, and have a proven track record of working through difficult customer requirements to move technical interest toward design wins.

Strong writing and presentation skills are essential, you'll be producing technical presentations, datasheets, whitepapers, and application notes regularly. A background in semiconductors, electronics, or advanced manufacturing will be highly valued, though the ability to learn quickly and communicate clearly matters most.

Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce is a plus, since you'll work closely with the sales team and track technical engagements through the pipeline, along with the ability to build scalable processes that strengthen how the broader organization supports customers.

Growth and Opportunity

From day one, you will receive structured onboarding to gain a deep understanding of Cenfire's product capabilities and the markets we serve. As you grow with the company, this role has the potential to expand into broader technical sales and business development as you build relationships with key customers and partners. As an early leadership hire, you will have direct access to the CEO and the opportunity to influence the company's trajectory in a meaningful way.

Compensation

Cenfire offers a competitive salary ($120K–$180K), comprehensive benefits, and meaningful equity. As the first Applications Engineering leader, you will help define our technical presence in the market while sharing in the upside of building a company that is redefining the future of switching.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
