Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Woodland Hills, CA is currently seeking an experienced Aeronautical Engineer Level 2 or 3 to support the AARGM-ER program. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and test a variety of power plants, aircraft, missiles, and parts, taking into consideration the most efficient use of the natural laws affecting flight. This position will be located at our Advanced Weapons Business Unit in Woodland Hills, CA. This role is onsite and follows a 9/80 schedule. Hybrid and remote work are not allowed.

Job Responsibilities:
- Design of mechanical parts and assemblies, including 3D CAD modeling; 2D drawing drafting, review, revision, and release; selection of components and materials; support of trade studies.
- Communicating with suppliers and customers to exchange technical information.
- Coordinating with supply chain regarding supplier changes, cost reductions, process improvements, and changing suppliers.
- Coordinating with manufacturing regarding design and process improvements.
- Collaborating with other functional areas on various aspects of product design/documentation, including procurement, production, logistics, or configuration management.
- Hands-on troubleshooting, inspection, or assembly of parts/subsystems in support of prototyping, production, or test.
- Performing tolerance stack up analysis and authoring reports documenting them.
- Collaborating with analysis teams who are responsible for performing mass properties, structural, thermal, and materials/processes reports.
- Creating and delivering engineering briefings or reports to support design review activities.
- Tracking & reporting task status.
- Assisting team to develop/document best practices.
- Resolving NCs and guide team members on NC resolution.
Basic Qualifications Level 2:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR Master of Science (MS) degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience
- Familiar designing primary and secondary aircraft parts/components, assemblies, and installations.
- Familiar with designing for MIL-STD-810 testing requirements.
- Familiar with creating 3D parametric models using any industry-standard 3D CAD package such as Creo (preferred).
- Self-motivated and able to work productively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail, follow-through, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated good verbal/written communication skills & proactive inter-personal
- Ability to obtain a government issued secret security clearance
Basic Qualifications Level 3:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience, OR Master of Science (MS) degree in a relevant STEM discipline and 3 years of experience
- Experience designing primary and secondary aircraft parts/components, assemblies, and installations.
- Experience designing for MIL-STD-810 testing requirements.
- Experience creating 3D parametric models using any industry-standard 3D CAD package such as Creo (preferred).
- Experience using any industry-standard Product Lifecycle Management systems such as TeamCenter (preferred).
- Self-motivated and able to work productively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good attention to detail, follow-through, and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated good verbal/written communication skills & proactive inter-personal
- Ability to obtain a Government issued secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications are:
- Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience resolving NCs designing to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and generating tolerance stack up analysis.
- Experience designing primary and secondary composite aircraft parts/components, assemblies, and installations.
- Experience designing for MIL-STD-810 testing requirements.
- Experience working in or providing engineering support to manufacturing or test/evaluation, particularly for DoD projects
- Experience working in a Scrum, Agile, or Kanban product-development environment
- Experience design for manufacturability
- Experience creating trade studies for design for cost analysis.
- Experience in material selection.
- Active Government Secret Clearance.
