Mastercard Employee Perspectives

At Mastercard, our purpose is to connect everyone to priceless possibilities. This commitment comes to life through leaders like Andre, Director, Community & Belonging, whose work ensures that accessibility and inclusion are not just aspirations, but everyday realities. This International Day of People with Disabilities and every day we work to promote understanding, celebrate dignity, and encourage action to better working conditions for all.

Accessibility: Dignity in action

For Andre, accessibility is fundamentally about dignity. It’s about creating systems and environments that empower everyone to participate fully and reach their potential. Whether it’s the products we design, the spaces we build, or the culture we nurture, accessibility is the foundation for thriving teams and innovation.

Embedding accessibility across Mastercard

Andre’s role is to embed accessibility into every facet of Mastercard’s operations—across products, services, workplaces, and the employee experience. This means making accessibility a core, shared responsibility for teams worldwide. By doing so, we ensure that inclusion is not an afterthought, but a guiding principle that shapes how we work and what we deliver.

Inclusion by design

“Inclusion really starts with design,” Andre shares. When we design with people with disabilities in mind from the beginning, we create solutions that work better for everyone. This mindset is central to Mastercard’s approach: leading with empathy and curiosity, so every employee can be themselves and feel they belong.

The power of ERGs and ADAPT

Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are vital to building community and sparking engagement. ADAPT, Mastercard’s ERG focused on disability inclusion, is a driving force for change. Through ADAPT, employees find support, advocacy, and opportunities to lead conversations about accessibility and belonging. Andre partners closely with ADAPT and other ERGs to amplify their impact, ensuring that different lived experiences shape our culture and business strategy.

Living our values

Mastercard’s employees care deeply about creating social impact as a force for good in local and global communities. For our own employees, Andre’s advice for aspiring allies is simple but powerful: Start small. Ask questions. Listen with openness. Choose inclusive practices and speak up—so accessibility becomes part of everyday conversation. This is how we build a culture of belonging, together.

Belonging for all

As Andre reminds us, disability is part of the human experience. When we lead with empathy and curiosity, we create environments where everyone can be themselves and feel they belong. At Mastercard, we’re proud to have leaders and communities who champion this vision every day.
