Activision Blizzard will pay $5.9B for Candy Crush maker King Digital
The LA gaming giant responsible for the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft franchises has decided to extend their reach to mobile gaming with the purchases of Dublin-based King Digital. The $5.9 billion transaction is comprised of $3.6 billion in cash and a $2.3 billion loan. The transaction will be official in Spring 2016. AssetAvenue names new CEO
AssetAvenue, the Westwood-based online lender for real estate investment properties, announced today that Varun Pathria has been named the company's new CEO by its Board of Directors. Pathria served as Senior Vice President at Colony Capital for 11 years prior to joining AssetAvenue as Chief Investment Officer in April 2015. App-maker Mobile Roadie bought by Intellectsoft
Beverly Hills-based Mobile Roadie was acquired by its competitor Intellectsoft of Palo Alto for an undisclosed amount. The app is a SaaS mobile marketing tool that allows people to manage their own branded apps. Their apps have been downloaded more than 60 million times and have been used by Taylor Swift and the Dallas Mavericks. Intel announces funding of FreedomPop
FreedomPop, the West LA-based wireless internet provider, announced an undisclosed amount of funding from Intel this week. The company had already raised $40 million this year after two mid-summer funding rounds. The announcement comes a week after Intel led a funding round for another LA startup, Two Bit Circus.
