If you're looking to expand your skill set and meet some interesting people this week, all while having a beer or two at one of LA's coolest breweries, you're in luck. Tonight, General Assembly is hosting a coding crash course at Angel City Brewery in the Arts District where users will learn the basics of coding using HTML and CSS. All you need is an ID and a fully-charged laptop to attend.

Machine Learning Night at the Zefr Headquarters, Thursday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Jesse Steinweg-Woods, a data scientist at tronc, will be at Zefr Venice headquarters this Thursday night to talk about all things recommendations systems. Steinweg-Woods, who holds a Ph.D in Atmospheric Science, will offer an inside look at how tronc's data science team is using machine learning to offer readers relevant news recommendations. Last year, Built In LA spoke with Zefr CTO Oded Noy, a pioneer in the machine learning field, who also happens to be a former jazz trombonist and fighter pilot.
