Making an impact on people’s lives is a career dream for many. At these two Los Angeles tech companies, it’s an everyday reality. Helping clients crush fitness goals or empowering medical workers with comfort might seem like small-scale evolutions, but like any long-term goal, it’s the small steps that make the greatest difference.
That said, employees at the following LA businesses aren’t just looking out for their customer base – internal support and collaboration are just as important.
“I quickly recognized that our mission of ‘serving others’ starts from within,” said FIGS Director of Human Resources Nancy Jarboe.
Take a look at these two growing tech companies hiring in L.A. to uncover why camaraderie is the ultimate motivator.
FightCamp is a fitness platform that offers at-home boxing workouts partnered with wearable tech for a more data-driven experience. The Y Combinator-funded company’s motion trackers calculate personal output based on speed, technique and intensity.
Working across teams: “One of the biggest reasons I’m at FightCamp is the ownership I have over projects,” Gonzales said. “Not only are they exciting projects that use modern technology, but I get to be part of them every step of the way. Ideation, solutioning, implementation, and release – I see an idea come to life and get to follow through with it.”
“While I feel an immense sense of ownership, I know I am not alone in any project. At FightCamp, we work within and across teams to ensure the best possible outcome of whatever we’re working on.”
Evolving into the future: “As we grow as a company, I’m excited to start taking a more analytical approach to building and iterating our e-commerce site. It’s exciting to dig into the data, figure out what’s working, what’s not, and what we can do to improve user experience. I’m also looking forward to helping grow and mature our technology and stack. For example, we are at a point where we need to create internal tools. We’ve seen a lot of growth over the past year, and we’re not done yet!”
Fashion-forward medical apparel company FIGS is helping healthcare professionals change the way they shop and dress. The company designs a lineup of fashionable scrubs in vibrant colors and styles so medical workers can look and feel confident on the job.
Commitment to the cause: “Our mission – to celebrate, empower and serve those who serve others – and learning about the various ways we continue to give back and make a positive impact in the world, is something that resonated with me from the get-go,” Jarboe said.
“I also quickly recognized that our mission of ‘serving others’ starts from within. People at FIGS matter. Their voices are heard, their experiences are seen, their successes are celebrated. This commitment to our people and their success drove me to choose FIGS and drives me every day. I’m proud to see how the company has and continues to ensure that there is clear intention and action behind everything we do, from our mission and product to our people and culture.”
Planting seeds early to harvest rewards: “FIGS has grown a lot over the past year and we’re not slowing down anytime soon. Beyond just an increase in headcount, I’m even more excited to see how we’re developing as a company to support our team through this period of rapid growth. We’re providing the tools and support our team needs to be successful – including transparent communication and coaching, equipment and software, investing in learning and professional development and implementing effective strategies – so that our employees are motivated, engaged and empowered every day.”
