The cultural difference between a company where employees feel connected to the mission and one where they don’t is night and day — and the stats back it up.

Over 90 percent of employees plan to stick around for the long haul if their employer prioritizes social impact. Furthermore, employees who are bought in on their employer’s mission are often more engaged and more productive, leading to greater profitability for the business.

Built In recently spoke with Tara Ribisi, a senior enterprise account executive and agents team lead at Compa, about how the SaaS startup’s mission “to make pay fair and competitive for everyone” is a core ethos of the team — and the impact this has on everything they do.

Compa is a compensation intelligence company built to augment enterprise compensation teams in the era of AI.

In one sentence, why does the mission matter to your team — and what decision did it guide recently?

At Compa, our mission — to make pay fair and competitive for everyone — isn’t just a tagline, it drives everything we do. For our sales team, it means focusing not only on growth, but on building products and relationships that truly elevate the compensation profession. That mission recently guided our decision to co-design new AI agent workflows with customers, ensuring what we build reflects the real, evolving needs of compensation and HR teams.

Which community or customer initiative best demonstrates your mission — and how is it measured?

Our customer community is where the mission comes alive.

By bringing together enterprise compensation teams at organizations like T-Mobile, Roblox, NVIDIA and Workday, we’re creating a trusted network of experts who share insights with one another.

One moment that stands out was early in my journey here when a customer referral helped share their experience with a prospect, helping close the deal. It was proof that our network isn’t just transactional; it’s rooted in trust and shared purpose. Moments like that remind me that our mission is lived daily — through collaboration, integrity and a belief that we can change how compensation works, together.

Do employees believe the mission is real? Share a moment or ritual that proves it.

You see Compa’s mission in how we work. Each weekly standup starts with shoutouts and they’re almost always about customers. Today, the Insights team was recognized for going above and beyond to deliver data for a customer’s board meeting.
