Scopely, a mobile gaming company, recently announced it raised another $200 million as an extension of a Series D round of the same amount raised last October. This round was led by media and tech investment firm Advance and The Chernin Group, an existing backer.

The Culver City startup is responsible for six consecutive top-grossing franchises including Looney Toons World of Mayhem, The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, YAHTZEE With Buddies and the award-winning Star Trek Fleet CommandScopely also acquired Disney’s FoxNext Games, the maker of Marvel Strike Force, soon after the first half of the Series D round was raised.

“The FoxNext Games acquisition reinforced our commitment to M&A, and the opportunity to partner with Advance and TCG was a welcome addition to further support our strategy,” Javier Ferreira, Scopely co-CEO, said in a statement.

The company says it plans to use this new capital for more mergers and acquisitions and to expand its portfolio of games across new genres.

This $400 million round brings the company’s total funding raised to more than $650 million, according to Crunchbase data, and brings its total valuation to almost $2 billion. Scopely has offices in Tokyo, Barcelona, Dublin and London, and it recently opened a new office in Boulder.

“In a time where staying connected to our families and communities is more meaningful than ever, Scopely remains committed to bringing people together around the world,” Ferreira and his co-CEO Walter Driver said in a blog post. “Our global team, who is now working remotely to best protect their health and their families’ health, has truly rallied as one to continue serving our players and maintain the social connection and experiences they rely on from us.”
