What We're Researching

We're running a paid study on digital workflows and everyday software usability. Our goal is to understand how professionals navigate new interfaces and complete standard tasks on their desktop computers. Your feedback directly shapes how these tools are designed for better efficiency and ease of use.

How It Works

You will join a 20-minute remote, unmoderated session from your desktop computer. During the session, you will be asked to share your screen and turn on your camera as you navigate a series of simple tasks. We will ask you a set of questions to gather your open and honest reactions to the experience. You will walk us through your thought process out loud as you interact with the provided materials.

Who This Is For

We welcome working professionals across various industries who are comfortable navigating digital tools. You must have access to a reliable desktop computer with a working camera and screen-sharing capabilities. We welcome participants from business operations, administration, marketing, sales, and general management roles.

What you'll do
  • Navigate a series of short tasks on your desktop computer

  • Share your screen and use your camera during the 20-minute session

  • Answer questions about your experience and workflow preferences

  • Think out loud and provide constructive feedback on the interface

Who should apply
  • Currently employed in a professional or corporate role

  • Access to a desktop computer (mobile devices are not supported)

  • Working webcam and the ability to share your screen

  • Comfortable thinking out loud and sharing open feedback

Compensation

USD 14.00-20.00 for the interview.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
