We are seeking a talented individual to join our Careers team at Mercer. This role will be based in Los Angeles, CA. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
At Mercer, our team applies advanced analytics to help organizations make better decisions about their workforce. This includes areas such as pay equity, workforce planning, and talent strategy.
In this role, you will work with large, complex datasets and apply statistical and machine learning techniques to uncover insights that drive real business impact. You will play a key role in shaping analyses, interpreting results, and communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
We will count on you to:
Lead and execute advanced statistical analyses (e.g., regression, machine learning models) on large workforce datasets
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and client-ready deliverables
Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools.
Partner with project leads to refine analytical approach and adapt scope based on findings
Structure, clean, and validate large datasets to ensure analytical integrity
Develop and present insights to internal stakeholders and client teams, including executive audiences
Support and mentor junior analysts, including reviewing work and guiding analytical approach
Contribute to the development of new analytical tools, frameworks, and methodologies
Core areas of work include: Pay equity and compensation analytics; Strategic workforce planning and labor market analyses; Employee lifecycle/talent analytics
What you need to have:
Advanced degree (PhD, Master’s, or MBA) in a quantitative field such as: Economics, Statistics, I/O Psychology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Biostatistics, or related field
Strong proficiency in R
Experience working with large, complex datasets (data structuring, cleaning, validation)
Strong foundation in statistical methods (e.g., regression, random forest, modeling techniques)
Ability to translate technical findings into clear, business-relevant insights
What makes you stand out?
Experience with Python, and Tableau or Power BI
Experience applying analytics in a consulting or client-facing environment
Experience with workforce analytics topics (e.g., pay equity, strategic workforce planning)
Familiarity with HR and compensation principles is a plus (e.g., job architecture, benchmarking, salary structures)
Strong storytelling skills — ability to connect data to business implications
Experience with AI architecture and orchestration (e.g., RAG, LLM-based systems, agent workflows)
AI-native mindset; experience building or working with AI agents is a plus
Working knowledge of Git and Databricks is a plus
Ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
