Position Overview:

We are looking for a driven and well-connected (jr/Sr) National Account Specialist, Wholesale to accelerate our wholesale growth. This role is ideal for someone with an established network in the grocery, retail, or CPG industry who understands how to successfully place products into national retailers, regional chains, distributors, and specialty retailers.


The National Account Specialist is responsible for driving wholesale sales growth by identifying, developing, and managing strategic retail and distribution partnerships across North America. This role will lead new business development efforts with major retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and foodservice partners while expanding existing customer relationships.


Success in this role requires strong industry relationships, commercial acumen, and the ability to negotiate, launch, and grow product assortments across multiple retail channels.


The ideal candidate has experience working with national retailers such as Walmart, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Albertsons, Target, Sam's Club, regional grocery chains, specialty retailers, or wholesale distributors, and understands the retail buying process from product presentation through category placement and ongoing account management.


Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Strategic Sales
  • Identify, develop, and close new wholesale business opportunities with national retailers, regional grocery chains, convenience stores, specialty retailers, wholesalers, and distributors.

  • Leverage existing industry relationships and continuously build new partnerships to expand Yami's wholesale footprint.

  • Lead customer meetings, product presentations, assortment reviews, pricing negotiations, and business proposals.

  • Build long-term strategic partnerships that generate sustainable revenue growth.

National Account & Retail Management
  • Manage relationships with retail buyers, category managers, distributors, and key decision-makers.

  • Grow existing accounts through assortment expansion, promotional planning, and sales performance reviews.

  • Develop annual business plans and joint growth initiatives with strategic customers.

  • Monitor sales performance, inventory, and customer feedback to maximize account success.

Brand Expansion
  • Introduce both Yami-owned brands and third-party partner brands into new retail channels.

  • Collaborate with brand partners to develop retail launch strategies and maximize market penetration.

  • Identify new product opportunities based on customer demand and market trends.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Purchasing, Category Management, Operations, Logistics, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success teams to ensure successful product launches and ongoing account support.

  • Coordinate promotional calendars, product launches, merchandising initiatives, and supply planning.

  • Support accounts receivable activities to ensure timely collections and healthy customer relationships.

Market Intelligence
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, retailer strategies, and consumer insights.

  • Identify new business opportunities across grocery, club, mass retail, pharmacy, convenience, and specialty channels.

  • Attend trade shows, industry conferences, and customer events to build relationships and generate new business.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in wholesale sales, business development, national accounts, retail account management, or CPG sales.

  • Proven experience selling consumer products into major retail chains, distributors, or wholesale channels.

  • Existing relationships with retail buyers, distributors, brokers, or category managers are highly preferred.

  • Experience working with grocery, mass retail, club stores, convenience, pharmacy, specialty retail, or foodservice channels.

  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Highly organized with excellent project management and follow-up abilities.

  • Comfortable analyzing sales data using Excel, Google Sheets, and CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.).

  • Ability to travel for customer meetings, retailer visits, and industry trade shows.

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin, Korean, or Japanese is a plus

Preferred Experience

  • Candidates with experience working with or selling into retailers and distributors such as Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, Target, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Albertsons, or similar organizations are highly encouraged to apply.

  • Experience representing either owned brands or third-party CPG brands is also highly preferred.
