Job Responsibilities:
  • Welding Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 - 7 years robotic welding and programming experience in the manufacturing industry or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Good knowledge of robotic welding systems and robotic programming.
  • Excellent mathematical organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Sense of urgency and customer service oriented.
  • Comfortable with analyzing data and identifying trends.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible in hours of work to meet internal and external customer requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax. Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
Definitions:
"Worker" means a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation but does not include an inmate of a correctional institution or like institution or facility who participate inside the institution or facility in a work project or rehabilitation program.
Duties of Workers
28. (1) A worker shall,
(a) work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations;
(b) use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be used or worn;
(c) report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; and
(d) report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.
(2) No worker shall,
(a) remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by his or her employer, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;
(b) use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or
(c) engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
3. Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
4. Develop and maintain Weld Standards for use in design with Engineering.
5. Provide support and guidance to the Engineering team in design and implementation of current production engineering changes, new launch activity and other various productivity related improvements.
6. Explore and develop new welding related technologies.
7. Responsible for generating and maintaining welding parameter control sheets.
8. Trend quality of welds using various measurable tools (i.e. Defect Monitoring, Weld Health charts, I-charts, etc.)
9. Ensures quality of RSW, GMAW, RPW, and FCAW welds according to Karmax and/or customers' specifications.
10. Work with Weld Lab Technician and Weld Destruct Technician to ensure weld quality is being maintained.
11. Defect monitoring, cross section analysis, troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and input parameters.
12. Lead and represent as "Karmax resident weld expert" in front of the customer and comlete all necessary documents to meet customer expectations. 13. Provide technical support to Robot Techs during problem solving as needed. 14. Detailing to Supervisors necessary modifications to be made to existing equipment to maximize ease of operation and increased machine performance. 15. Maintain a sound understanding of customer's product and engineering specifications.
16. Promote health and safety, high product quality and continuous improvement.
17. Enforce all quality and inspection procedures.
18. Must have a valid passport ad be able to travel to support the Engineering team and Karmax as required.
19. Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement-3 P's. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment
20. Perform other duties as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant
  • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours to meet needs of assigned departments of responsibility with a Minimum amount of Supervision
  • Lifting up to 20 kgs
  • Exposed periodically to elements such as temperature and noise
  • Office environment within a manufacturing operation
