WEBTOON is hiring a skilled and experienced Group Director of Creative Services to work in its Los Angeles office and lead its North American Creative Services team.  Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Group Director is responsible for leading an in-house full service creative team, establishing the creative vision, and developing high quality and engaging creative solutions that drive user acquisition and engagement across all formats and channels. They must be a digital-first creative leader especially adept at video and animation and who has deep experience in developing managing teams that create compelling campaigns driving measurable business results. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record in leading all aspects of a creative team including but not limited to  setting the creative vision based on business needs and managing resource allocation and budget.

Key Responsibilities: Creative Leadership

  • Partner closely with the VP of Marketing and Marketing counterparts to establish the creative direction, guidelines and processes aligned with the company’s marketing strategies and business goals.
  • Serve as the internal creative expert to consult and translate business concepts and creative briefs into strategic creative concepts with design and aesthetic quality appropriate for the WEBTOON brand and its various IPs.
  • Stay current with the latest industry trend and continue to look for ways to elevate the brand and drive continuous improvement of creative ideas, processes, and operations.

Key Responsibilities: Team Management

  • Manage, motivate, and foster an environment of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Ensure that the team is staffed with the appropriate mix of design skills based on the needs of the business. Develop solutions for gaps on an as needed basis.
  • Set KPIs for team leads to match business needs.
  • Manage team performance in a proactive and professional manner.
  • Spearhead the development of tools and processes that enable easy onboarding.

Key Responsibilities: Budget, Resource and Project Management

  • Delegate, manage and prioritize projects and resources to ensure timely work delivery within budget.
  • Develop and communicate project timelines, deliverables, and progress to the team regularly.
  • Develop tools to measure and manage the capacity of the team, ensuring that reallocate work as needed to take full advantage of team availability and to identify any constraints on future projects.
  • Look for creative solutions to managing workload including but not limited to leveraging third party relationships (i.e. freelancers, studios) to supplement capacity.
  • Manage department budget, ensuring that resources are used efficiently.

Key Responsibilities: Internal Client Relationship Management

  • Collaborate closely with Marketing team leaders to ensure that Creative Services is always aligned with the needs of the business.
  • Develop the processes and meetings to ensure that internal clients and stakeholders are kept informed and feedback in actively solicited.
  • Partner with the VP to address challenging situations in a proactive manner.

Required Experience and Skills:

  •  10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of design leadership for content businesses.
  • Proven track record of translating brand strategies and business objectives into compelling creative visions and marketing assets.
  • Portfolio demonstrating scope of multi-channel design projects driving results for content brands.
  • Experienced and skilled in managing budgets, including but not limited to bottoms-up annual budget development based on sound assumptions, monthly forecasting, tracking actuals.
  • Track record for innovation, incorporating new technology in creative development process
  • Deep understanding of branding, creative storytelling, and design aesthetics with proven track record across photography, videography, and graphic design across all channels.
  • Subject matter expert on creating highly engaging and appealing videography and photography, both task oriented and highly creative.
  • Experience in leading, developing and inspiring a creative team with various personalities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent management and leadership skills, including specific instances of navigating organizational change and building strong cross-team relationships internally and with external partners.

  • Understanding of digital marketing; experience translating results to optimized creative iterations and concepts.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • University degree in relevant field or equivalent proven experience.
  • Experience in UX/UI design or working closely with UX/UI designers.
