1. Employee supervision & leadership:
- Materials management leadership: development of decision documents and improvement proposals regarding warehouse management, material flow, container optimization.
- Interdisciplinary management of the external service including definition of key figures
- Guidance of the team leads in the implementation of optimization potentials (cost potentials/quality improvement)
- Technical and disciplinary leadership of the team leads, material handlers, and vehicle handlers.
- Technical and disciplinary management of the vehicle handling and material handling teams to ensure qualitative, on-time and economical production and customer satisfaction.
- Supporting the team leads in the detailed planning of personnel capacities and inter-shift measures, including the management of the Material Handlers and Vehicle Handlers.
- Taking over the technical management and representation of Material Handling and Vehicle Handling in the production meetings. Collaborate and assist in the selection of personnel, as well as identifying and promoting individual employee strengths in the Material and Vehicle Handling areas.
- Lead and optimize all personnel resources to meet optimal operations within the scope of responsibility.
- Interim management of logistics planning (packaging, process), consolidation of the team as well as integration of new employees after departures.
- Ensuring compliance with all safety requirements, inventory quality, and storage criteria (example first-in first-out, goods acceptance, scrapping) including creation of work instructions.
- Planning and fulfillment of a demand-optimized training concepts.
- Leading the materials management department, considering product-specific goals and objectives.
- Planning of personnel capacities and preparation of the labor input calculation.
- Carry out personal selection and interviews.
- Control of the optimized personnel employment of the leads.
- Recognition and targeted promotion of individual employee strengths.
- In case of need, setting disciplinary measures in coordination with the human resources department.
- Main responsibility for team-oriented personnel deployment planning and personnel recruitment.
- Contact point for team leads in case of personnel problems.
- Initiate and implement action on staffing adjustments across all shifts Provide direction and support to staff.
2. Administration/Control:
- Oversee coordination of part changes.
- Responsible for ensuring inventory quality is maintained in the receiving department.
- Approve inventory variance analyses in accordance with established guidelines and value limits.
- Collaboration in the logistic planning of new projects (personnel, equipment, areas, systems, processes...)
- Process-compliant takeover of pre-series and series material, their interim storage and transfer to the place of installation, considering the time of need, quality, optimum stock levels, setting layouts
- Ensuring the process-compliant takeover, storage, and issue of indirect in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Mafact: Ensure documentation and its implementation of measures according to given target.
- Main point of contact for the MAFACT area and audits for the Material and Vehicle Handling areas.
3. Material Handling:
- Lead Operations meetings and coordinate cross-cutting Material Handling issues.
- Developing ideas to optimize Material Handling with a focus on the project optimum (service providers, material handling, assembly, transportation, containers).
- Coordination of ideas with the planning and development of decision documents and implementation plans in material and vehicle handling.
- Material supply of the product specific assembly.
- Collaboration in cost planning and budget preparation for the areas of responsibility.
- Monitoring and control of the material handling according to agreed logistic key figures.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and maintain timely parts supply to the production lines.
4. Performance tracking and error analysis:
- Analyses of error patterns in the area of material handling (stock deviations, damages, late to line,..).
- Verification of compliance with defined key performance indicators
- Reporting and development of an action plan in case of deviation
- Comprehensive analysis of error patterns and setting of corrective measures, including external services.
- To ensure correct master data (processing of error logs, stock or production stock allocation, ensuring stock accuracy, complaints or blocking, taking into account change management and life cycle issues.
5. Meetings & Audit:
- Participate in meetings.
- Participate in cross-plant SCM (regular) meetings such as logistics, materials management technical groups, total cost of ownership optimizations, new logistics KPI definitions/definitions, etc.
- Preparatory meetings for audits (Mafact, International Automotive Task Force, International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM), etc.)
- Regular coordination, exchange of experience, etc. on specific project topics regarding logistics planning approaches with Center of Competence Logistics
- Jointly defined process standards and process documents, internal benchmarks
- Coordinates with divisional management and product specific direct reports in daily team meeting contacts with operating and administrative departments.
6. Improvement:
- Ongoing optimization of materials management operations in coordination with facility and process planning (areas, load carriers, handling equipment, etc.)
- Participation in the Process Improvement Team organization
- Collaboration in the planning and implementation of improvement Initiatives
- Ensure order and cleanliness and conduct Material Handling Housekeeping and Continuous Improvement Process appointments.
- Initiate improvement projects in the material inventory or material flow area Monitor permanent inventory and warehouse checks.
- Ongoing improvements to reduce costs, increase quality, meet deadlines, and optimize operations.
- Internal continuous improvement process meetings to optimize the overall MAFACT process Elaboration and implementation of measures
- Manage the logistics yard in accordance with established company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Oversee the post-production process, ensuring timely and efficient movement of cars from the manufacturing facility to the yard.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle inventories, including completion status, location, and condition.
- Coordinate with internal teams, such as production, quality control, and logistics, to ensure the smooth flow of cars into the yard.
- Collaborate with the program management team to understand customer requirements and coordinate outbound shipments accordingly.
- In coordination with transport planning, assist in outbound shipments, ensuring that cars are assigned to the correct delivery routes and properly loaded onto transportation vehicles.
- Regularly monitor inventory levels to identify and report any discrepancies or potential shortages.
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to verify their accuracy, condition, and readiness for shipment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including the safe handling and storage of vehicles within the yard.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement in logistics processes and implement necessary changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Mentor and provide guidance to subordinate staff, ensuring their adherence to established protocols and their professional development.
