Vice President of Sales

Location: Buena Park, CA (Onsite)
Travel: Up to 35%
Reports To: Chief Revenue & Strategy Officer (CRSO)


About the Role

UNIS Transportation & Logistics and Item.com are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Sales to lead and scale a high-performance commercial organization across transportation, logistics, and AI-powered technology solutions.

This executive leadership role is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through new customer acquisition, account expansion, strategic partnerships, and integrated portfolio selling across UNIS Transportation services and the Item.com AI platform. The ideal candidate is a proven sales leader with deep transportation and logistics expertise, a strong coaching mindset, and a track record of building elite sales teams that consistently exceed targets.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing sales organization, including Account Executives, Business Development Representatives, and Sales Directors.
  • Drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth across Truckload, Drayage, Brokerage, LTL, Intermodal, Warehousing, Fulfillment, and AI-powered logistics solutions.
  • Build and execute vertical-market sales strategies and ICP-driven pipeline development programs.
  • Expand existing customer relationships through strategic account planning, cross-selling, and portfolio growth initiatives.
  • Develop accurate revenue forecasts, pipeline management processes, and performance reporting.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Product, Technology, and Executive Leadership teams to deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Lead enterprise sales pursuits, executive presentations, contract negotiations, and strategic customer engagements.
  • Champion consultative selling methodologies and establish a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote adoption of AI-enabled sales tools, analytics, and automation to improve productivity and customer engagement.

Requirements

  •  10+ years of progressive B2B sales experience, including at least 5 years in senior sales leadership roles.
  • Proven success building and scaling sales organizations within transportation, logistics, supply chain, 3PL, or freight-related industries.
  • Experience selling multi-modal transportation services, including Truckload, Drayage, Brokerage, LTL, and Intermodal solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding revenue targets through both new business development and account expansion.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.
  • Executive presence with experience selling to C-suite and senior decision-makers.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, sales analytics, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Experience selling technology, SaaS, AI-enabled platforms, or logistics technology solutions is highly preferred.
