About the role…

As VP of Finance, you’ll partner directly with our CEO, helping build the company’s financial and operating foundations while scaling the business with operational excellence. This is a highly strategic and hands on leadership role, ideal for someone who is comfortable switching between strategy and execution, loves building systems, optimizing performance, and driving results through operational excellence.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team that includes Finance, People and Legal. You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the leadership team to align operations with company growth and strategic goals.

Where you come in…
  • Own the end to end financial picture: P&L, cash flow, runway, and unit economics

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning to support fast, informed decisions

  • Run the monthly close and financial reporting, working closely with external partners where needed

  • Own tax setup and compliance across entities, geographies, and evolving business models

  • Own investor updates, board materials, and support fundraising conversations

  • Drive capital allocation and ROI thinking, ensuring spend is intentional and aligned to priorities

  • Act as the connective tissue across Finance, People and Legal, bringing structure and clarity

  • Own the company planning cadence - annual planning, quarterly re-forecasts, and ongoing prioritization

  • Define, track, and evolve core KPIs and performance dashboards

  • Establish lightweight but effective operating rhythms, accountability, and decision-making frameworks

  • Translate strategy into clear operating plans, resourcing decisions, and execution focus

  • Partner closely with the CEO on prioritization, trade offs and day to day execution

Your profile…
  • A builder at heart with experience in early stage or scaling startups

  • Background spanning finance, operations, or general management

  • Strong grasp of financial fundamentals - budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and unit economics

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and figuring things out as you go

  • Experience working with investors, boards, and external partners

  • Naturally structured and pragmatic - able to bring order without slowing teams down

  • Collaborative leader who can work cross-functionally and earn trust quickly

  • A true thought partner to the CEO, balancing speed, rigor, and long-term thinking

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
