Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Credit Account Management Strategy Development Leader sets and executes account management strategies across revolving credit portfolios. The role leads multiple strategy areas, namely loss-mitigation strategies—including credit line decreases and account closures—as well as authorization strategies for cash access, over-limit activity, early delinquency, and real-time credit line increases. This leader oversees the prior mentioned enterprise strategy teams, as well as dedicated account management leaders supporting strategic partners, including PayPal/Venmo and OnePay/Walmart. These responsibilities together are internally termed “LMAD” (Loss Mitigation, Authorizations, and Dedicated Clients)

Essential Responsibilities:
- Set and execute the account management strategy roadmap to deliver financial commitments within Synchrony’s risk appetite.
- Lead credit line decrease and account closure strategies for active and inactive accounts across revolving portfolios and products.
- Lead authorization strategies for cash access, over-limit activity, early delinquency, and real-time credit line increases, as well as reactivation.
- Oversee dedicated account management strategy leaders (encompassing all AM strategies including line growth, loss mitigation, and authorizations) for key contractual partners and collaborate with Portfolio Credit Managers on portfolio-specific actions.
- Manage portfolio performance toward targeted net charge-off levels while balancing customer experience, loss mitigation, growth, and profitability.
- Use test-and-learn and champion/challenger frameworks to optimize targeting, assess false positives, and improve strategy effectiveness.
- Build a consistent framework to monitor, measure, and report strategy performance and outcomes.
- Lead as a hands-on player-coach, developing team capabilities and ensuring timely execution.
- Partner with modeling, strategy sciences, technology, PRISM, client, and infrastructure teams to deliver new tools, data solutions, and next-generation strategies.
- Maintain model and non-model governance, process controls, and regulatory review routines with Compliance, Legal, Fair Lending, and Internal Audit.
- Resolve issues promptly and support regulatory exams, audits and business continuity planning.
- May perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of strategic credit risk management experience, or 14+ years of credit risk management experience in lieu of a degree.
- 7+ years of strategy development or related experience requiring strong analytical acumen requiring formulating of recommendations for decisioning.
- 5+ years using data analysis or pattern-recognition tools such as Tableau, SAS Viya, or Neo4j.
- Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required
Desired Characteristics:
- Strategic leadership experience in cross-functional environments, including managing medium to large teams.
- Curiosity and a demonstrated ability to drive change in consumer lending.
- Advanced proficiency in SAS, SQL, R, Python, or similar languages, with experience analyzing large data sets and applying modeling or data-mining techniques.
- Strong business acumen and knowledge of model governance, regulatory expectations, and internal audit processes, including SR 11-7 and MRM policies.
- Excellent executive communication, relationship management, influencing, meeting leadership, documentation, and visual storytelling skills.
- Advanced critical thinking and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights, coaching, and feedback.
- Strong project management skills, with a record of delivering goals within defined timelines and budgets.
- Master’s degree, MBA with an advanced analytics focus, or equivalent advanced degree.
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is 170,000.00 - 290,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
