Sony Pictures Television Studios (SPTS) is one of the industry’s leading content providers, producing programming worldwide across genres and platforms. As the largest independent TV studio in the industry, SPTS produces 50+ shows each year including THE BOYS, COBRA KAI, THE GOOD DOCTOR, OUTLANDER, and PLATONIC. SPTS is part of the larger Sony Pictures Television (SPT) division. SPT is a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company, a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sony Group Corporation. 

The SPT Marketing Organization at Sony Pictures Television supports the entire lifecycle of our series, from supporting the initial sale with pitch materials, to collaborating with first window platform partners on marketing campaigns, to creating and managing marketing assets with Distribution teams.

The VP, Brand Marketing will be responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of our TV brands (series), interacting with internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness, tune-in, and brand exposure. Franchise building and consumer activation is key to driving business results throughout the multi-windowed lifespan of our SPT series. The VP will report into the EVP, Marketing and Franchise Management managing and developing a team, serving as the TV strategic marketing expert across all Sony TV IP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a Brand Marketing team of 6+, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture through hands-on mentorship and strategic direction.
  • Build a team admired internally and externally for its professionalism, creativity, results and establish clear roles and responsibilities with pathways for growth and continued learning.
  • Hands on, develop and execute the overall SPT brand marketing strategy across all television IP—including original and legacy properties, across adult live action, comedy, animation and kids with the goal of driving successful launch campaigns, sales efforts, and long-term value for the underlying IP.
  • Maintain a prioritization map, marketing development calendar and budgets in partnership with leadership and marketing operations to ensure focus and alignment across titles, budgets and tracking.
  • Establish strong and influential relationships with streamer marketing teams establishing efficient trusted processes for reviewing and providing studio input and approvals on platform partners’ campaigns.
  • Leverage data and commission insights to inform marketing strategies, define target audiences, shape creative direction, and evaluate return on investment (ROI).
  • Identify opportunities for incremental marketing support beyond platform campaigns—developing social-first paid media plans that drive long-term IP value.
  • Partner with creative executives to gain early insights into content, align with producers and develop an important liaison critical to creating a strong campaign.
  • Serve as an expert in social and influencer marketing with expert understanding of strategies that drive engagement across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Stay ahead of emerging platforms and trends and encourage calculated innovation within the team.
  • Create workflows that allow the team to manage all internal processes - brand clearances, product integrations, international marketing/sales, and others as needed by series always striving to make things more efficient. 
  • Cultivate passionate audiences and build fan ecosystems that support new launches and reinvigorate library titles—tapping into SPT’s broader Synergy Ecosystem.
  • Partner with franchise leads to develop 360 sustain plans and franchise strategies for high-potential IP.
  • Guide the creative development process with internal teams and external agencies, managing timelines, deliverables, and brand alignment.
  • Justify and strategize event activations and promotional partnerships that enhance campaign and IP value.
  • Work closely with SPT Distribution teams to ensure alignment, asset coordination, and long-term brand value creation.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Expert in television marketing; experience working with or for a streamer developing campaigns targeted at adults is a must.  
  • A television fan that watches, works and love series format with a deep understanding of media and entertainment business and a leader in the field, with understanding of all industry trends
  • Effective leader, able to grow and scale an organization. A team leader with an expertise in building efficient and productive teams. Someone who can build cross-functional relationships across multiple teams with an ability to influence key stakeholders
  • A strong problem-solver that doesn’t wait for a solution, but seeks to resolve difficult problems with win-win strategies.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills – ability to use data to help execute optimized strategies, those that push the team and the studio beyond
  • Strong project management skills with an ability to multitask across a plethora of projects
  • Knowledge of marketing analytics tools and best practices, an AI enthusiast that sees how the tool can benefit a marketing organization
  • Experience managing agency relationships and marketing vendors
  • Ability to work cross functionally, both internally and externally
  • A lifetime learner constantly pursuing emerging and cross-disciplinary approaches that can enhance the work product delivered to internal and external stakeholders

The anticipated base salary for this position is $191K to $250K. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
