Job Summary

The VP, Capital Markets & Strategic Initiatives is a senior leader responsible for advancing the organization’s capital markets strategy, liquidity management, capital optimization, and related strategic initiatives.  This role leads the development and execution of strategies that support the organization’s long-term growth, desired capital profile, liquidity objectives, and financial flexibility across holding and operating companies.

This position reports to the SVP, Capital Management & Treasurer and will collaborate across Finance, Investments, Risk, and business teams to assess liquidity needs, evaluate funding alternatives, enhance liquidity management capabilities, and support strategic initiatives. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary contact for banking partners across the suite of products for consideration in F&G’s liquidity strategy and capital markets issuances and will represent the company with investors and other external stakeholders. This position plays a critical role in monitoring enterprise liquidity, enhancing liquidity reporting and forecasting capabilities and supporting governance processes. This leader works closely with the Vice President of Capital Management to ensure alignment between liquidity strategy, capital planning, and enterprise capital optimization.

This leader will help build scalable capabilities, governance, analytical rigor, and cross-functional operating rhythms as the organization’s capital needs, asset complexity, reinsurance structures, and regulatory requirements continue to evolve.

Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Lead the development and execution of market-facing capital strategies across debt, equity, funding agreements, bank facilities, FHLB borrowings and other financing alternatives, consistent with the organizations targeted capitalization, liquidity, spread, and asset-liability management objectives.
  • Lead execution of debt offerings and other capital-markets transactions, including transaction structuring, market assessment, internal approvals, documentation and coordination with banking partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for debt capital markets banking partners, maintaining an active view of market conditions, investor demand, financing opportunities, emerging risks and forward-looking issuance strategy.
  • Lead debt investor outreach and engagement activities to enhance the organizations’ profile with credit investors, broaden the investor base, and support successful transaction execution.
  • Establish and oversee short-, medium-, and long-term liquidity planning, including liquidity policies, stress testing, buffer and target recommendations, executive reporting, and evaluation of new bank products and facilities.
  • Partner with investments and Treasury to evaluate issuance opportunities, funding costs, asset-liability management implications, collateral considerations and balance-sheet impacts.
  • Develop clear, decision-useful recommendations for senior management and governance committees on strategic opportunities, tradeoffs, risks and execution considerations.
  • Support corporate development, M&A and other strategic initiatives through capital structure analysis, financial modeling, diligence and transaction execution support, as applicable.
  • Partner with Capital Management as needed to strengthen capital forecasting, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and related processes across operating entities and holding companies.
  • Support the organization’s rating agency strategy by analyzing capital and liquidity metrics, preparing materials and responses, monitoring rating-agency criteria, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate governance, risk management, and operating practices for capital markets and strategic initiative activities, in partnership with Risk, Internal Audit, Accounting, Tax, Legal and other control functions.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes, reporting capabilities, and operating effectiveness through improved tools and analytics.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in financial services, insurance, treasury, capital management, corporate finance, fixed income or related fields required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in treasury/capital markets, insurance finance, or a closely related discipline strongly preferred
  • Experience leading debt issuance, liquidity management, funding strategies or other capital markets transactions required
  • Experience working with investment banks, rating agencies, investors, regulators, or other external financial stakeholders preferred
  • MBA, CPA, or CFA strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, fixed income markets, corporate finance, Capital structure and company valuation methods in the Insurance sector is a plus.
  • Ability to assess complex capital, liquidity, asset, reinsurance and strategic transaction issues and convert analysis into practical, well supported recommendations.
  • Ability to represent F&G professionally with investors and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-wide initiatives involving multiple functions, competing priorities and significant executive visibility
  • Strong intuitive, analytical, quantitative, and financial modeling capabilities. Ability to think ahead and conduct strategic planning.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain focus on critical timelines and outcomes.
  • Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Expertise to improve processes and utilize technology to make procedures and processes more efficient.
  • Focus on advanced issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated passion for leadership, continuous improvement, and delivering measurable business results.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other financial-analysis and presentation tools.
  • Bloomberg proficiency
