The Opportunity

The Visual Analytics Manager (VAM) is an expert in interpreting scientific requirements and designing fit-for-purpose data visualization solutions that enable partners to efficiently review data and make informed critical decisions on our global clinical trials.  The VAM is responsible for consistently aligning the practice of medical data review across all Roche/Genentech sites and therapeutic areas.  The VAM works directly with Clinical Scientists, Safety Scientists, identified partners, and other VA colleagues to ensure that scientific questions are explored thoroughly using creative data visualizations and effective collaboration.

The Visual Analytics (VA) team manages the implementation of medical data review and the application of tools (e.g., Spotfire®) by providing training, development of standard processes, and dedicated support.  The VAM contributes to optimizing medical data review by being an integral member of the Global VA team. The VAM contributes to and drives non-portfolio projects that significantly impact PDD.

  • Develops and manages standard and custom study-level visualizations to enable Clinical Scientists and/or other partners to draw insights on primary data, enabling faster decisions.

  • Acts as a central point of contact for clinical study teams with questions on medical data review processes, documentation, clinical data, and informatics. 

  • Provides data analytics expertise, guidance, and customer training on tools and processes.

  • Influences and proactively gathers change requests for adoption into standard reporting templates.

  • Collaborates with other functional areas to align and simplify processes that provide redundancy in analytics.

  • Uses strong technical expertise and skills to find opportunities for harmonization, automation and simplification with the approach of working more efficiently.

Who You Are

  • College/University degree – bachelor's or higher or equivalent education in a scientific, medical, or relevant technical subject area. 

  • Experience with visualization, analytical/statistical data analysis tools/programming languages (e.g., Spotfire, SAS, Python, R, Excel, SQL, Prism, or others).

  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

  • Strong/thorough understanding of the end-to-end drug development lifecycle.

  • Track record of establishing successful internal partnerships with relevant partner organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrates experience or is adaptable to applying with an agile approach, behaviors, and methodologies (e.g., McKinsey - Agile Organizations).

  • Delivers as part of a team and independently

  • Influential and confident communicator.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Ability to work across multiple cultures and countries.

  • Knowledge of GCP, international regulations, guidelines, their application, and all other applicable compliance standards is a plus. 

  • International travel as required. 

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is $97,900.00 - $181,700.00 USD Annual .  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
