Après Nail has innovated the nail market as the creator of Gel X. Our mission is to improve nail industry standards and the lives of nail artists by providing innovative products that help both them and their services thrive. Our nails are seen everywhere, from the Met Gala to the Oscars to your local nail salon. The Gel X revolution is real, and we're looking for our next great team member!

We’re looking for a Videographer / Video Editor to help bring campaign concepts to life from storyboards to final exports—shooting and editing high-impact content across social, paid ads, and tutorials. You’ll collaborate closely with the Production Art Director, Art Director, and Creative Director to translate briefs into beautifully executed video, contributing ideas that elevate storytelling, pacing, and overall creative polish.

On set, you’ll capture footage with confident framing, lighting awareness, composition, and sound, keeping shoot days efficient and organized. In post, you’ll craft edits with a strong sense of rhythm and narrative, layering in sound design, motion graphics, and text treatments to create platform-native, scroll-stopping work—while staying locked into brand consistency across formats.

This role is perfect for a nimble, detail-driven creator who thrives in a fast-paced studio, loves clean workflows and file organization, and is excited to explore new plugins and AI tools to push quality and speed. A standout beauty/lifestyle reel is a must.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-Production

  • Work closely with the Production Art Director, Art Director, and Creative Director to execute creative briefs and scripts, bringing them to life while contributing ideas that strengthen the overall vision.
  • Assist in creating storyboards, shot lists, and pre-production plans to ensure clear alignment before shoot days.
  • Support the Production Art Director in preparing production timelines, equipment checklists, and studio setup.

Production

  • Capture high-quality footage for social media, paid ads, and tutorial content that reflect brand aesthetics and campaign goals.
  • Execute creative direction on set through expert framing, lighting awareness, and composition.
  • Collaborate with the Production Art Director to maintain pacing, shot accuracy, and efficiency throughout the shoot day.
  • Ensure consistent communication across creative and production teams during filming.
  • Handle on-set sound recording and contribute to maintaining a productive, organized shoot environment.

Post-Production

  • Edit video content with a strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and storytelling that aligns with campaign objectives.
  • Incorporate sound design, motion graphics, and text treatments to enhance engagement and polish.
  • Adapt and export content for various platforms and formats while ensuring brand consistency.
  • Collaborate with the Production Art Director, Art Director, and cross-functional teams to integrate feedback and finalize deliverables.
  • Stay current with editing trends, plugins, and AI-driven tools that improve workflow and creative quality.

Studio Operations & Collaboration

  • Maintain and organize video assets using consistent naming conventions and version tracking.
  • Manage and care for video equipment, ensuring proper storage, handling, and maintenance.
  • Keep shared drives and folders organized for efficient team access and retrieval.
  • Communicate equipment needs or repairs promptly to the Studio Manager and Production Art Director.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative studio culture that values teamwork, efficiency, and creative exploration.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • 3–5 years of experience in videography, editing, and post-production for beauty brands.
  • Strong creative eye for storytelling, framing, and visual pacing across social, paid, and tutorial formats.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, and Photoshop, with working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve or similar grading tools.
  • Skilled in motion graphics and sound design, with an understanding of how both enhance narrative flow and brand personality.
  • Fast-paced and adaptable. Able to assess shifting priorities, identify risks to timelines, and proactively adjust to keep projects on track.
  • Collaborative mindset; open to direction and feedback while contributing thoughtful ideas that elevate the creative vision.
  • Strong organizational habits with disciplined file management, version control, and workflow documentation.
  • Curiosity for innovation. Actively explores AI tools and automation that streamline editing, enhance creative possibilities, and improve efficiency.
  • Clear communicator who fosters trust and alignment across production, design, and marketing teams.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with production, design, and marketing teams to deliver cohesive campaign assets.
  • Must have a strong reel or portfolio demonstrating creative range, technical ability, and storytelling strength within beauty or lifestyle content.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
