About the Role

We are seeking a strategic, data-savvy, and execution-driven leader to serve as our Senior Vice President, Strategic Finance. This is a high-impact executive role for a proven finance leader who thrives in ambiguity, brings deep lending and balance sheet expertise to complex financial challenges, and has scaled finance functions at high-growth companies. You will own our financial strategy end to end — capital raising, capital allocation, short and long-term forecasting, pricing and unit economics. — ensuring our long-term growth is backed by rigorous planning and sound judgment.

In this role, you will report to the Chief Financial Officer and own and scale the Strategic Finance team. You will collaborate closely with Accounting, Capital Markets, Go-To-Market (Sales & Marketing), Product, and Human Resources to drive company-wide alignment and performance. This position is based in our San Francisco headquarters with in-office days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

Responsibilities
  • Own company-wide financial planning and analysis (FP&A) strategy, including annual budgeting, long-range planning, liquidity forecasting, and management and board-level performance reporting.

  • Design and govern the company's financial operating cadence, giving the executive team and Board real-time visibility into business health, risk, and opportunity.

  • Partner with Go-To-Market and Product leaders to develop sophisticated pricing models, unit economic analyses, and impact sizing for new strategic initiatives.

  • Own lending economics (yield, spread income vs. fee income, portfolio performance, and loss trends), and partnering with Risk and Product to inform underwriting and pricing decisions.

  • Build and scale the Strategic Finance function, hiring and developing senior talent and implementing scalable financial systems, models and dashboards.

Requirements
  • 15+ years of experience in a blend of strategic finance, investment banking, private equity or venture capital investing, consulting, or corporate strategy, with a track record of taking on progressively greater scope—ideally within high-growth fintech, lending, or healthcare finance environments.

  • Deep understanding of lending and balance sheet economics—credit risk, interest rate dynamics, spread income vs. fee income, and portfolio/loss performance—with the judgment to advise on pricing and underwriting tradeoffs.

  • Proven track record partnering directly with CEOs, CFOs, and Boards on capital allocation, capital raises, and high-stakes strategic decisions.

  • Exceptional analytical capabilities with the ability to translate large datasets into compelling strategic narratives and business cases.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, building trust and driving clarity across executive, technical, and operational teams in high-ambiguity environments.

  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on doing things the right way and maintaining a high personal standard of excellence.

  • Able to work out of our San Francisco HQ.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
