Who we are

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company that uses computer vision technology to enable frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world. Today, we are reimagining parking to enable millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out." We envision a future where people transact in the real world with a speed, ease and convenience that is unparalleled, even online. Tomorrow, we will power checkout-free experiences anywhere you go to make the everyday experiences of living, working and playing remarkable - giving us back our most valuable asset, time.

Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a Vice President, Platform Product to be the core owner and enterprise architect for the Commercial Intelligence Platform. This is a critical, high-leverage role at the center of Metropolis's strategy and execution. Reporting to the SVP Product, you will be responsible for transforming fragmented, real-world signals into a unified, high-reliability platform that powers multiple Metropolis products across parking, hospitality, advertising, and safety. You will lead a cross-functional organization and own the strategy required to scale this platform, enabling key partnerships and future growth.

What you'll do
  • Own the platform strategy and roadmap, delivering a modular, API-first platform that supports multiple products and partners while maintaining strong reliability and performance
  • Partner closely with the ML organization to define the signal ingestion and understanding layer, turning raw signals into structured, privacy-aware intelligence for downstream applications
  • Build and maintain the unified member and entity graph for people, vehicles, devices, and roles, ensuring identity, payment instruments, and preferences power personalized, low-friction experiences across the entire portfolio
  • Own the policy and rules engine that translates real-world events into automated actions (e.g., notify, charge, route) across devices, staff, and services
  • Build and evolve developer APIs, connectors, and integration services to make it straightforward for customers and partners to build on the Metropolis platform
  • Define platform SLOs and deployment standards for cameras, networks, and edge environments, ensuring the platform operates across cloud/private cloud while meeting security and privacy requirements
  • Hire and coach a cross-functional platform organization spanning Product, Platform Engineering, AI/ML, and Data Platform
What we're looking for
  • 12+ years building and operating large-scale platforms at the intersection of physical operations and software
  • Proven experience leading transformations that unified multiple systems into a single API and data plane
  • Expertise scaling edge and cloud architectures for computer vision, sensor ingestion, or other real-time decisioning systems
  • Proven track record turning AI and data insights into meaningful customer and business outcomes; strong data and experimentation skills, with comfort in SQL, metrics design, and testing frameworks
  • Experience owning or partnering closely on identity, profile, or payment systems; shipped developer-facing platforms and ecosystem integrations (APIs and SDKs)
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams spanning Product, Engineering, Data/ML, and GTM
  • Highly collaborative, adaptable to ambiguity and experimentation, and able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining precision and accountability

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows. The anticipated base salary for this position is $260,000.00 USD to $300,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more. #LI-CH1 #LI-Onsite

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
