Who We Are
At adMarketplace, our mission is to deliver the most engaging consumer search experiences while empowering advertisers to measure media performance accurately. Today, millions of people worldwide engage with our exclusive, transparent media placements across the internet's leading browsers, shopping apps, and review sites.
Our award-winning culture is built around five core values (known as our 5C's): Curiosity, Collaboration, Creative Conflict, Commitment, and Competitiveness. With these guiding values, adMarketplace seeks to empower our team to reach their full potential through continued learning, and the opportunity to do their best work.
The Role
We're seeking a dynamic Vice President of People to join our leadership team and lead our People function through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the CFO and leading a team of seven, you'll own every aspect of our People strategy, from culture and employee experience to performance management, compensation, leadership development and international expansion.
This is not a legacy HR role. We need a hands-on builder and strategic partner who can operate at both a micro and macro-level, someone energized by the opportunity to scale our organization and build a world-class employee experience that attracts, engages, and retains top-tier talent.
What You'll Do
  • Culture & Employee Engagement
    • Champion and continuously evolve adMarketplace's culture to reflect our mission, 5C values, and business goals.
    • Design and implement a cohesive employee engagement strategy that includes formal and informal feedback loops to surface actionable insights and enhance the employee experience.
    • Establish consistent and scalable practices for manager enablement, internal communications, and team health to promote alignment and accountability at every level of the organization.
    • Develop and champion employee wellbeing programs, including mental health resources and work-life balance initiatives, to support a healthy, resilient workforce.
  • Talent Management & Performance
    • Lead talent strategies that support scalable growth, including succession planning, performance development, and workforce planning.
    • Oversee talent performance programs and continuous feedback practices to ensure alignment between employee growth and company goals.
    • Serve as a trusted and strategic advisor to executive leadership, proactively identifying talent gaps and development opportunities to accelerate performance and retention.
    • Build and refine performance management and talent review frameworks that drive continuous feedback, high accountability, and employee growth.
    • Launch leadership development and upskilling programs that support career mobility and long-term succession planning.
  • Compensation & Total Rewards
    • Own the development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of adMarketplace's compensation philosophy, ensuring alignment with company values, business objectives, and growth trajectory.
    • Lead compensation benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitiveness across roles, departments, and geographies.
    • Partner with Finance and executive leadership to guide annual planning cycles, merit reviews, and promotion calibrations with transparency and fairness.
    • Ensure alignment between compensation practices and performance management frameworks to reward impact and high performance.
  • Onboarding, Retention & Development
    • Optimize the onboarding experience to accelerate new hire integration and engagement.
    • Develop and execute retention strategies that promote long-term career growth and organizational stability.
    • Develop scalable retention strategies by analyzing attrition trends, manager effectiveness, and employee feedback to proactively address friction points through thoughtful programming and policy.
    • Own the design and implementation of career development frameworks, enabling clarity around growth paths, internal mobility, and progression.
  • International People Strategy
    • Ensure compliance with employment laws and HR best practices across all operating regions.
    • Tailor employee programs and policies to reflect cultural and legal nuances while maintaining a unified global approach.
  • People Operations & Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and scale a People team of five.
    • Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure HR effectiveness and proactively support business objectives.
    • Optimize HR systems and data capabilities to support scale, efficiency, and insight-driven decision-making.
    • Serve as a key thought partner to the executive team on people strategy and organizational design.
    • Champion organizational change and evolution through employee-centered strategies that support growth and transformation.
  • Change Management & Organizational Agility
    • Lead change management efforts to enable organizational agility, ensuring smooth transitions during growth, restructuring, or strategic pivots through clear communication and employee support.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior People role.
  • Demonstrated success scaling teams and headcount in a high-growth startup to midsize environment - preferably within media, entertainment, or technology industries.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing HR teams.
  • Deep experience in talent performance, engagement, and total rewards across international teams.
  • Hands-on leader who is comfortable building from the ground up while also operating at a strategic level.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.

Compensation Range: Base: $225,000-$250,000 plus bonus and equity

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
