Job Description

The VP Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures for our cloud and AI environments. This role involves leading risk assessments, architecting robust security controls, and integrating these controls into enterprise processes. The VP Security Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure integration of cloud solutions and AI technologies and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role is crucial in safeguarding our cutting-edge technologies and driving our security initiatives forward.

Primary Functions & Essential Responsibilities 
  • Design and Implement Security Architectures: Develop and oversee the implementation of robust security architectures for cloud and AI environments.

  • Lead Risk Assessments: Conduct and lead comprehensive risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential security threats.

  • Architect Security Controls: Design and implement advanced security controls to protect cloud and AI systems.

  • Integrate with Incident Response Strategies: Develop and train incident response analysts on strategies to effectively manage and mitigate cloud and AI security incidents.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other teams to ensure secure integration of cloud solutions and AI technologies.

  • Monitor Security Posture: Continuously monitor the security posture of cloud and AI environments and make necessary adjustments.

  • Develop Security Policies: Provide SME guidance in the development of related security policies and procedures.

  • Develop Cloud and AI Security Training: Lead security awareness and training programs focused on cloud/AI security for the organization.

  • Innovate Security Solutions: Identify and implement innovative security solutions to address emerging threats.

  • Manage Security Tools: Oversee the deployment and management of security tools and technologies.

  • Report to Senior Management: Provide regular updates and reports on the security status to senior management.

Qualifications

Skills:  

Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

  • Expertise in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI. Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

  • Expertise in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.

  • Automating the build, test, and deployment processes to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of software.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

  • Proficiency in using IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure.

  • Ensuring infrastructure consistency and repeatability through code.

Configuration Management:

  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet to automate the setup and maintenance of systems.

  • Managing and maintaining consistent configurations across environments.

Containerization and Orchestration:

  • Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker to package applications and their dependencies.

  • Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes to manage and scale containerized applications.

Scripting and Automation:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks and processes.

  • Developing custom automation scripts to enhance operational efficiency.

Monitoring and Logging:

  • Using monitoring solutions like Splunk to ensure system health and performance.

  • Setting up logging and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address issues.

Version Control:

  • Strong understanding of version control systems like Git to manage code repositories and collaborate with development teams.

  • Implementing branching strategies and code review processes to maintain code quality.

Cloud Services:

  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and their automation capabilities.

  • Leveraging cloud-native services to enhance scalability, reliability, and security.

Security Automation:

  • Automating security tasks such as vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, and incident response.

  • Integrating security tools into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous security.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with development, operations, and security teams.

  • Promoting a culture of DevOps and automation within the organization.

  • Automating the build, test, and deployment processes to ensure rapid and reliable delivery of software.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to stay updated with the latest security trends and threats.

Experience: 

  • 10+ years of experience in Cybersecurity, with a focus on cloud and AI security

  • Proven experience in leading and managing large-scale security projects

  • Experience leading the implementation of Security Architecture Design from project initiation to architecture, design, deployment, stabilization, and support

  • Experience supporting on-prem and cloud (Azure preferred) distributed applications, with a deep understanding of optimal architecture supporting high availability, performance, and security

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or Discipline involving Data Analytics – or equivalent professional experience

  • Professional Certifications like GSEC, GCIA, CISSP, OSCP, etc., will be a plus

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$240,000 - $270,000
