ABOUT XYZ REALITY

──────────────────────────────

XYZ Reality are the creators of the world's first and only engineering-grade Augmented Reality solution, purpose built for the construction industry. Not only have we created this holographic technology, that sits within The Atom — a smart, site-safe headset/hardhat — but we implement it on projects, utilising the power of AR to ensure that all schemes are completed in line with delivery timescales and budgets.

XYZ has grown to over 100 staff across the UK, US & Europe and is working with Mission Critical organisations & construction companies to successfully deliver major projects.

THE ROLE

──────────────────────────────

The VDC Manager is part of the Client Operations team, sitting within the Project Controls function and working closely with the BIM team.

You will be responsible for driving the effective integration of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) methodologies, BIM processes, and model-based workflows across projects — working closely with Deployment, Cost, Customer Success, and Technology teams to ensure BIM data and processes effectively support project delivery.

The role requires direct engagement with clients, contractors, and designers, and combines strong technical expertise in BIM/VDC and model management with the leadership and communication skills to set standards, mentor the team, and influence how AR technology is integrated across construction projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

──────────────────────────────

• Lead the development and implementation of BIM/VDC standards, workflows, and processes across projects — managing the integration, preparation, and export of BIM models into the XYZ Project Controls platform to required quality and data standards.

• Develop and implement automation solutions, including Revit scripts and other tools, to improve efficiency, data quality, and consistency across BIM/VDC workflows; establish and maintain model quality control processes.

• Analyse BIM model data and element metadata to support project controls, progress tracking, quality management, and other project requirements.

• Work directly with clients, contractors, designers, and project stakeholders to understand their requirements and establish effective BIM/VDC workflows; provide technical guidance as the subject matter expert on BIM/VDC processes and model data.

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously — coordinating priorities, deliverables and deadlines — and lead the BIM/VDC team including task allocation, performance management, and technical development.

• Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, automate workflows, and increase the efficiency and scalability of XYZ's VDC operations; contribute to the ongoing development of XYZ's BIM/VDC strategy and technology roadmap.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

──────────────────────────────

• Proven experience in a BIM/VDC management role on complex construction or infrastructure projects.

• Strong technical proficiency in BIM authoring and management tools — Revit essential; experience with scripting or automation (Dynamo, Python, or similar) strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing BIM standards, workflows, and quality control processes.

• Experience working directly with clients, contractors, and designers in a client-facing project delivery environment.

KEY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

──────────────────────────────

• Strong understanding of model-based workflows, BIM data structures, and element metadata — able to translate model data into project controls insight.

• Experience integrating BIM processes with project controls functions such as scheduling, cost management, or progress tracking.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences including clients and senior leadership.

• Leadership and mentoring capability — able to develop a team's technical skills and hold a high standard across BIM/VDC practice.

• Experience with AR, XR, or emerging construction technology platforms — desirable but not essential.

• Familiarity with Mission Critical, Data Centre, or large-scale commercial construction projects — desirable.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
