PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

The purpose of this job is to create a successful user experience by studying user interests, developing and organizing an information architecture, and developing, and testing prototypes. This position exists is to identify customer needs and create intuitive experiences and products to meet company and department goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Produces high quality UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes. 

  • Develops and conceptualizes a comprehensive User Interface (UI)/User Experience (UX) design strategy for all digital products by studying product/service content.
  • Plans and implements new designs and optimizes existing user interface designs by analyzing user goals and target audience.
  • Determines information architecture and creates sitemaps by conducting focus groups, user interviews, and surveys to identify opportunities and iterate effectively.
  • Creates prototypes and wireframes in collaboration with Customer Experience (CX) by creating the look and feel of the concept to establish the high-level direction.
  • Defines thorough design specifications, writes the front-end code, and builds the user interface from detailed business requirements for application development.

Collaborates with internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for digital users.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders within a multi-disciplinary team to gather design requirements and translate those requirements into high quality visual solutions.
  • Works closely with development team and product owner to create user stories, personas, and storyboards.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Partners with designers and developers on project delivery and design with the latest technology to define new features, test new concepts, and assist with final implementation. 

Provides advice and guidance on the implementation of UX research methodologies and testing activities to analyze and predict user behavior.

  • Plans and conducts user research and competitor analysis to establish a high-level vision for the solution.
  • Interprets data and qualitative feedback and organizes information and creates visualizations of content.
  • Conducts usability testing, debugs code errors and troubleshoots software issues for complex, large-scale user interfaces to achieve desired results.
  • Ensures that products across teams are consistent in look and feel, the underlying technology stack and the implementation methodology. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a major or emphasis in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in web and user application design, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience with end-to-end product design. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

None required. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Working knowledge of the following technologies and software: Sketch, InVision, Visio, Balsamiq, HTML, CSS (SCSS), iOS, Android, Design Systems and Adobe Creative Suite. Fluent in essential front-end web development languages, i.e., HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Skilled in modern application programming languages, such as Java and .Net. Excellent debugging, analytical and visual design skills. Understanding of UI/UX best practices and drive improvements in designs and methodology. Experience in analysis, usability testing, and web programming skills. Experience creating wireframes, storyboards, and user flows. Understanding of business metrics and the ability to translate company goals and objectives into digital experiences. Understanding of interaction design principles. Possess design thinking and a user-centric mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presenting to leadership. Adaptability and strong attention to detail. Possess creativity and an analytical approach. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Visio, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint. Ability to thrive in a highly-collaborative and team-oriented environment. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT  

This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.

The current range for this position is

$83,017.13 - $140,002.70
