About the Role

Applied is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented New Graduate UX Test Engineer to join our specialized Validation team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our software applications provide an exceptional user experience while maintaining technical integrity. At Applied, we believe that quality is not just a metric, but a core component of our user experience. As a new graduate, you will have the opportunity to work on industry-leading products while receiving mentorship from senior validation engineers. We offer a collaborative environment where your technical curiosity and passion for user-centric design will directly impact our product success.

At Applied Intuition, you will:
  • Test Plan Development: Design and implement comprehensive validation scripts focused on user journeys, edge cases, and visual consistency.

  • Automation Engineering: Develop and maintain automated UI test suites using tools like Selenium or Appium to increase validation throughput.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with UX Designers and Product Managers to refine requirements and provide feedback on design prototypes.

  • Defect Management: Identify, reproduce, and track UI/UX defects through their entire lifecycle using Jira or similar tracking systems.

We're looking for someone who has:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, HMI, UX Design, or a related field and is graduating by December 2026.

  • Technical Proficiency: Foundational knowledge of software testing methodologies (Manual & Automated).

  • Programming: Basic proficiency in at least one scripting language such as C / C++, Python, JavaScript, or Java.

  • UX Fundamentals: Understanding of design principles, typography, and responsive layout validation.

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, obsessive attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication.

Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
