The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Marketing Director, Upstream you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Building and leading the portfolio strategy for your area of responsibility, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Identifying opportunities for organic growth (new product development) and inorganic growth (e.g. licensing, M&A) and prioritizing them in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Conducting in‐depth market assessments, customer & competitive analyses to evaluate opportunities before allocating resources to NPD projects.
  • Leading evaluations of M&A targets to assess strategic, customer, and business alignment.
  • Managing and developing a team of upstream product managers to execute NPD projects, ensuring that new products meet unmet customer needs and align with the portfolio strategy.

  • Partnering cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Finance, and downstream marketing to ensure portfolio and NPD projects are aligned to business goals and deliver value.
  • Bringing the external perspective into the organization by cultivating deep customer, market, and competitive insights to guide investment decisions and portfolio priorities in connection with the business & portfolio strategy.

Your Skills and Expertise 
Demonstrated success in developing and executing portfolio or business strategy, balancing resource constraints and opportunity.

  • Proven track record of successfully launching new products in the medical device segment, from concept through commercialization, with measurable business impact.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing portfolio or business strategy, balancing resource constraints with growth opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate market, customer, and competitive insights into actionable strategies.
  • Cross-functional leadership and influence skills, with experience partnering across R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, Operations, and Commercial teams to deliver results.

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, in Marketing, Business, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field AND 10 years of relevant business experience, ideally including medical device, healthcare technologies, or adjacent regulated industries.
  • 7+ years in marketing, product management, or strategy roles with increasing scope and responsibility.
  • 5+ years of experience leading new product development initiatives in the medical device industry—taking projects from concept through launch.
  • 3+ years managing direct reports, including mentoring/developing product or upstream marketing talent.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience in global product markets (i.e. launching or marketing products in multiple geographies / cross‐border regulatory / reimbursement considerations).
  • Prior exposure to highly regulated global environments (e.g. FDA, CE, etc.).
  • Proven track record of delivering product launches on time, on budget, with measurable business impact.

Work location: Remote

Travel: May include up to 35% Domestic and International Travel

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $222,044 - $271,387, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
