In this position...

Success in this role requires a leader who is centered on product excellence, engineering rigor, technical execution, and a bias for action. You will operate in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional environment, partnering across engineering, finance, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure platform hardware is defined, sourced, released, validated, and delivered in support of program milestones.

This role has significant organizational impact. You will drive resolution of complex hardware risks, influence platform-level decisions, and ensure alignment between program objectives, cost, timing, quality, and manufacturing readiness.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Manage and drive resolution of electrical hardware and software risks, technical challenges, change control, and cost.
  • Lead team direction through engineering gateways, financial milestones, and industrialization from pre-program through Job 1, acting as liaison between SIT, Finance, STA, Manufacturing, and NML leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with Functional D&Rs, hardware teams, software teams, and TPMs to ensure all work supporting program content is completed on time and with quality.
  • Ensure all electrical hardware is sourced, released, validated, and delivered in support of program timing.
  • Support the DV process by driving DFMEA development, leading hardware audits and reviews, ensuring proper classification, test planning, vehicle requests, and vehicle availability.
  • Spearhead ECU part updates for all platform breadboards and preproduction builds at the build site.  Work with D&R Engineers, SITs, suppliers, New Models, MP&L, and other stakeholders to organize and lead hardware update events.  Ensure all required part-level and vehicle-level updates are completed on time and with quality in support of build timing.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • 10+ years of experience in automotive hardware engineering, technical program management, platform engineering, electrical/electronic systems, vehicle architecture, or a closely related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex hardware programs or platform initiatives from early concept through engineering milestones, validation, sourcing, and production readiness.
  • Experience managing or providing technical leadership to engineering teams, including coaching, prioritization, issue resolution, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Strong understanding of automotive hardware development processes, including sourcing, release, validation, BOM management, DFMEA, design reviews, change control, and build support.
  • Experience working with ECUs, electrical/electronic architectures, platform hardware, vehicle integration, or highly integrated vehicle features.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, make sound decisions with incomplete information, and drive closure on complex technical and business issues.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence engineering teams, program leaders, finance partners, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance technical depth with business judgment, including cost, quality, complexity, timing, and strategic platform considerations.

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience with Ford engineering systems, processes, milestone reviews, AIMs, Jira, change control, CNE DF, PSTs, or related governance forums.
  • Experience supporting vehicle builds, preproduction events, breadboards, ECU updates, or launch readiness activities.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through high-pressure program timing, technical risk, and launch-critical issue resolution.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
