The Treasury Manager will report to the Corporate Treasurer / VP FP&A and support the treasury management function by providing robust cash management oversight and recommendations to optimize BlackSky’s use and investment of cash. You will be responsible for maintaining adequate cash balances including the forecasting of short-term and long-term cash flows to support BlackSky operations.  Additionally, you will be a key partner to several functional Finance teams and serve as a trusted liaison between BlackSky and external banking partners. While the team works remotely, you will ideally live in proximity to Herndon, VA to facilitate occasional in-person team meetings and events.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily cash positions and ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs. Review and/or approve over threshold wire transfers and ACH payments processed by A/P.
  • Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts to plan for future liquidity needs and identify strategies to optimize cash and investment balances.
  • Manage bank accounts, including account openings, closings and maintenance of signatory authorities. Establish and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions to optimize services and fees.
  • Identify and mitigate treasury risks, including performing periodic customer creditworthiness evaluations and financial reviews of banking partners.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities for excess cash in alignment with the company's investment policies. Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and monitor returns on investments. Prepare recommendations for maximizing returns on idle cash.
  • Partner with Finance leadership to plan for and fund strategic investments to grow the business via working capital, equity, debt, M&A, or other organic fundraising endeavors.
  • Prepare periodic cash reports for senior management. Conduct variance analyses and provide actionable insights into cash flow trends.
  • Prepare sales commission analyses and resultant payment requests.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business management, or related field;  equivalent experience plus certifications in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of cash management and corporate treasury experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong business acumen with top-notch verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to build professional rapport with colleagues and external partners.
  • A proficiency with Microsoft Excel modeling and familiarity with data query/data visualization tools (e.g., Cognos, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
  • The ability to work and make decisions with a high degree of independence.
  • Excellent attention to detail to support our best-in-class team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Treasury Manager (CTM), or other certification.
  • Experience in a software, satellite/space technology, or related industry is helpful.

The anticipated salary range for candidates in Seattle, WA is $100,000-$130,000 per year. The final compensation package offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on specific background and education. BlackSky is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect salary ranges in other states or locations outside of Seattle, WA.
