The Trade Compliance Specialist works collaboratively with internal partners such as Inbound Logistics, Internal Legal Counsel, Tax, Accounting/Finance, Sourcing, Regulatory/Quality and Demand/Supply Planning functions, and with external partners such as Customs Brokers, External Legal Counsel, and Government Agencies (FDA, Health Canada, US Customs and Border Protection and Canada Border Services Agency) to ensure compliance in accordance with all federal rules and regulations as it pertains to FIGS imported products.

What You'll Do:

  • Daily collaboration with internal/external parties to monitor and facilitate compliance and due diligence on imported products.  
  • Work with the logistics team, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to ensure all information and/or documentation is compliant and received timely for import processes.
    • Gather information to properly assign and HTS (classification) for imports into the U.S. and Canada.
    • Research internally to identify sourcing and manufacturing processes and make determinations of eligibility for free trade agreements such as but not limited to USMCA, Chile Free Trade, CAFTA, GSP, etc
    • Solicit FTA certificates from exporter and/or prepare, certify, and issue certificates accordingly to receiving markets.
    • Apply functional expertise to assist and support determinations concerning customs clearance, incoterms, documentation, and various initiatives involving import trade compliance.
    • Request/obtain government certificates/permits for importation goods.
    • Assist with internal/external audits to ensure full compliance and adherence to trade regulations.
  • Closely collaborate with global affiliates and exporters to ensure ISF timely filing and compliancy.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews with customs brokers, freight forwarders, as well as internal, post entry and valuation reviews.
  • Enter duty payments into FIGS ERP system.
  • Foster an end-to-end mindset as you drive process improvements together with cross functional teams when gaps and risk is identified.
  • Serve as the internal functional expert for import related programs, processes, industry trends, etc.
    • Continue self-education of latest industry practices by attending seminars, conferences and webinars on regarding Trade Compliance to keep abreast of current events and constantly changing procedures and regulations

What You Have:

  • Must have 3-5 years customs and international trade compliance experience; proven experience in relationship building, facilitation, implementation skills and influence; and financial and operational oversight skills in both centralized and decentralized environments.
  • Broker’s license a plus

Pay Range

  • At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role's base salary range is between $75,000 and $95,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
