Summary

The Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer is a member of the engineering team who is responsible for the design and development of manufacturing tools, prototypes parts, and manufacturing processes for Robinson Helicopter products. The Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer is the critical link between design and manufacturing who ensures that parts are designed for manufacturing and manufacturing efficiently achieves the intent of the design. 

Responsibilities 
  • Propose, design, fabricate, qualify, and maintain the tools necessary to manufacture parts while meeting schedule and quality objectives
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers and manufacturing personnel to optimize part design for manufacturability
  • Develop manufacturing methods and work instructions for new design parts
  • Interface with Quality to ensure tools and prototype parts meet quality objectives
  • Manage schedule on assigned projects
  • Collaborate with vendors on the design and fabrication of tools to ensure cost, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved
  • Investigate, root cause, and resolve production issues associated with tooling or manufacturing process
  • Document tool designs, processes, and specifications
  • Contribute insights and innovations to improve the product and organization
  • Maintain required records and conduct audits to verify compliance with processes and procedures
  • Interface with external suppliers of components and services to establish requirements and ensure compliance with requirements
 Tooling and Manufacturing EngineerRequired Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering field
  • Direct experience with the manufacture of aircraft components including metallic, plastic, and composite parts
  • Hands on experience with sheet metal fabrication, welding, or machining
  • Experience with 3D modeling and CAD, preferably SolidWorks
  • Working knowledge of GD&T
  • Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent academic record
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others

 Desired Qualifications

  •  Master’s Degree in a related engineering field
  • Previous experience with tooling design
  • Experience with Mastercam
