The Technical Writer will create and maintain documentation that translates complex technical and functional information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for various audiences, including end-users, developers, and internal staff. This individual will collaborate closely with software development and product teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure documentation supports product success and user experience.  

What You’ll Do (Essential Responsibilities)

  • Develop and maintain a wide range of technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, API documentation, release notes, FAQs, tutorials, and SOPs. Ensuring accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to company style guides and industry standards. 
  • Participate in the defining of documentation standards in terms of content & delivery for all Mitek products. 
  • Manage documentation across platforms and media, using content management systems (CMS), version control systems and online help systems (e.g., readme.com). 
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to improve user experience by providing input on user interface text and participating in usability studies. 
  • Train teams (Product Management / Development) on new content standards to drive consistency and quality for published documentation.

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills to work effectively within cross-functional, agile development teams.  
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in all documentation.  
  • Strong portfolio showcasing relevant technical writing work.  

What You Need (Education/Licenses/Certifications, Experience, Knowledge, Technical Skills & Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related technical field (required or preferred). 
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical writing for software or other highly technical industries, focusing on business applications or software platforms. 
  • Strong analytical and research skills to collect information from technical staff and internal/external sources.  
  • Familiarity with documentation tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, screen capture tools) and programming concepts.   

What Would be Nice (Preferred Skills & Experience)

  • Proficiency with readme.com or similar version control systems. 
  • Fluency in Spanish or Russian
