About ENS Labs

Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized, permissionless naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that enables human-readable names (like "myname.eth") to be linked to standard Ethereum addresses and other distributed systems.

As one of the first protocols built on Ethereum, ENS has enabled over 3 million registered .eth names, and over another 20 million ENS names from teams such as Coinbase, Uniswap, and Linea, as well as integrations with hundreds of other apps, wallets, protocols, and browsers in the crypto ecosystem.

ENS Labs has been driving the core development of the ENS protocol since 2018. We created the ENS app, open-source libraries, and core smart contracts. We are on a mission to make crypto-powered experiences as easy and accessible as browsing the web. Join us as we build the next iteration of our protocol, ENSv2, and pioneer a more decentralized, flexible, and scalable ENS for the future.

Why This Role Matters

As a Technical Writer at ENS, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality, user-friendly documentation that empowers developers, partners, and users to seamlessly understand, integrate with, and utilize ENS.

You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to stay informed on new features and updates, ensuring all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and reflects the latest developments within the ENS ecosystem. This role requires a strong grasp of blockchain technologies, a passion for clear communication, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, easy-to-understand content.

What You'll Do
  • Create clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation for ENS APIs, smart contracts, developer tools, and user-facing products.

  • Develop user-friendly guides, tutorials, and best practices to help developers and users seamlessly integrate ENS into their applications.

  • Produce educational content to onboard new users and developers, ensuring a smooth and intuitive introduction to ENS.

  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect new features, enhancements, and bug fixes.

  • Write release notes that highlight new features, improvements, and bug fixes for both users and developers.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to transform complex technical details into easily digestible documentation.

  • Develop a content strategy tailored to different audiences, including developers, product teams, and non-technical users.

  • Respond to community inquiries and contribute to frequently asked questions (FAQs) related to ENS, its functionalities, and the broader ecosystem.

Who You Are
  • Proven experience as a technical writer, ideally with a focus on blockchain, Web3, or other highly technical domains.

  • Expertise in writing developer documentation, API documentation, and user guides for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong familiarity with the Ethereum ecosystem, decentralized applications (dApps), smart contracts, and decentralized identity.

  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content.

  • Proficiency in tools like Markdown, GitHub, Confluence, and other content management systems.

  • Experienced with Git and version control, particularly managing open-source documentation on platforms like GitHub.

  • Skilled at tailoring content to diverse audiences, adjusting tone and complexity to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical readers.

Its a Plus If You Have
  • Familiarity with ENS or other decentralized technologies.

  • Knowledge of CMS and SEO best practices for technical documentation.

  • Experience writing tutorials, case studies, or thought leadership articles in the blockchain/Web3 space.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or GitHub repositories.

ENS Labs is an equal-opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for all team members. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
