SeqMatic is a Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and omics services provider based in the San Francisco South Bay Area. The company was founded in 2012 by former Illumina R&D scientists who are experts in the NGS workflow and related bioinformatics.

 

We specialize in Illumina NGS and other short read platforms, PacBio Revio long read sequencing, bulk DNA/RNA-seq, Single-cell RNA as well as custom sequencing services with fast turnaround times. Our lab is CLIA / CAP certified.  We recently expanded our capabilities addition to incorporating novel technologies such as Spatial Transcriptomics, Epigenetics, Proteomics, Histopathology and other speciality omics services.

About the role

SeqMatic is looking for a Technical Sales Specialist to join our omics services commercial team. This is a role based full-time in our Fremont, CA office (M-F).  Candidates must reside within reasonable driving distance of Fremont, CA to allow daily commute to our Fremont office.

Key elements of the position include:

  • daily outbound prospecting, nurturing, and closing the sale as required to meet quarterly sales goals
  • understanding customers' technical (scientific) and business requirements
  • preparing detailed quotations
  • CRM tracking of all sales related activities, including weekly sales forecasting
  • matching quotes to purchase orders 

This role offers a base salary plus commission, a comprehensive benefits package, 401K with match, and a 5-day lunch program.

What you'll do

  • Hunter:  Identify and make outbound contact with existing and potential customers to find sales opportunities,
  • Sales process: Manage, qualify and prioritize sales leads; understanding of the customer’s scientific and business pain points, and the competitive situation.
  • Tenacity:  Pursue and close sales orders; match final quotes with incoming purchase orders.
  • Manage customer relationships post-sale, including a strategy to develop long-term business relationships.
  • Responsive:  Answer technical inquiries and/or provide updates to the clients regarding the status of their submissions.
  • Attention to detail:  Log all activities in the CRM, including weekly sales forecasting at the account level.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Must have a strong Genomics and/or Molecular Biology background to allow for a deep understanding of the broad variation of NGS/omics applications vs. customer needs to uncover new sales opportunities.
  • Innate desire to win. 
  • 1+ years of experience in a technical sales or a related field with customer-facing experience.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Conduct presentations effectively and professionally to customers, peers, and management.
  • Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing methods, especially DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, scRNA-Seq is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Prior experience in an environment using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is a plus

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in genomics, molecular biology, or a closely related scientific field.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Sponsorship not available.
