About the company

Our client is a fast-growing software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Act as the first internal recruiting hire, leading engineering hiring from sourcing through offer acceptance and later widening to other departments. Approach each search like a measurable funnel, creating scoring, outreach and reporting tools while working side by side with technical leadership and the founders.

What you'll do

- Partner with the CTO to turn the hiring bar into a written standard and score candidate profiles against it before interviews.

- Build and refresh a large, enriched pool of engineering candidates, including people who would need to relocate.

- Run personalized outreach at scale, review results daily, and retain the messaging that performs best.

- Conduct phone screens and advise the CTO on who should move on to the programming screen.

- Keep every candidate moving with scheduled next steps, fast turnaround and clear updates.

- Prepare the founders for closing conversations with candidate background, motivations, relocation details and compensation talking points.

- Publish a weekly dashboard covering pool size, outreach activity, replies, screens, onsites, offers, accepts and time spent in each stage.

- Grow into owning the wider hiring plan across several other business functions.

What we're looking for

- Track record of owning a headcount goal at an early-stage startup.

- Experience persuading engineers to accept roles that require full-time presence in an office.

- Ability to walk through funnel metrics from a past search, from sourced candidates through to accepts and time to fill.

- Hands-on experience using AI models in automated workflows and building recruiting tooling and data pipelines, for example with Python and SQL.

- Ability to work on-site five days a week in Los Angeles, with relocation support available.

Bonus points

- Ties to Southern California.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
