The Client and Partner Technologies team is charted with enabling brilliant Netflix experiences on partner devices and building foundational client systems and tools. The team is looking for a Technical Program Manager to accelerate the software release capabilities of both our client applications and client platform on Smart TVs, Set-top boxes, and streaming media players.   

The Technical Program Manager will partner closely with the Client & Partner Technologies Product Managers to drive impactful cross-functional programs both within CPT and across the company. The role requires strong coordination and collaboration with engineering from platform teams to member user-experience teams. This role has the direct opportunity to impact key objectives including building the capabilities to enable rapid product innovation and deployment in strategic areas. Responsibilities span the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, scoping, implementation, and release management for core software deliverables.  Domain experience and a strong interest in media-related technologies are critical to success in this role. Relevant areas include media streaming devices, media playback, embedded software, and/or understanding API contracts between a rapidly evolving JavaScript layer and a slower-moving embedded C++ firmware layer.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading cross-functional programs, in collaboration with product, engineering, design, and data science.
  • Provide deep domain expertise to formulate technical strategies with engineering partners. 
  • Domain knowledge and experience in analyzing data, software development lifecycle, embedded Linux platform experience or Android Platform like Chrome OS 
  • Drive engagement with internal partners by working with them to decompose requirements into technical execution plans with measurable milestones.
  • Effectively optimize the scope and schedule of deployments, manage cross-functional dependencies, and proactively manage risks.
  • Craft clear communication of progress toward goals, reporting status to stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of technical program management experience
  • Deep understanding of software release management
  • Direct experience in the streaming or cloud games industry is beneficial (TPM, Product, Development, etc.)
  • Highly skilled, experienced, and enjoys orchestrating multi-organizational impacting software programs with many moving parts
  • Proven experience creating partnerships with cross-functional teams, driving large-scale technical strategies, debating technical approaches, and building long-term scalable solutions
  • Able to identify gaps in solutions and weigh in on product vs. technology tradeoffs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate business impact and technical constraints tailored to the audience
  • Self-starter who enjoys quickly bringing organization and direction
  • Exemplify the Netflix culture by understanding, advocating, and demonstrating its values

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $290,000.00 - $460,000.00.
