About this role

We are looking for a Product Manager to join the Aladdin Investment Operations Product Management team and lead the reconciliation product area! This is one of the core components of Aladdin and is used by BlackRock as well as all the Aladdin customers!

The position is a combination of Strategic and Tactical tasks. Many strategic areas need exploration, evaluation, and prioritization, while in parallel ensuring that the tactical needs for continuing to operate the platform are met. It is a sensitive balance of prioritization and partner management.

You will support the end-to-end product roadmap. You will advance the regulatory requirements, feature development, automation, and user experience. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for gathering requests from multiple collaborators, bringing together product requirements, translating these into our Agile operating model Epics and Feature stories, and prioritizing them as part of the backlog grooming.

You will also work very closely with both our UX design and engineering teams to bring the product to market.  Additionally, the structure of the business internally means operating in a matrixed fashion with multiple collaborators in functions like the Platforms team (infrastructure), Product Marketing, Client Services, etc. who are each passionate about diverse clients and users. As you develop the product roadmap, you will need to strategically solve this complexity of users and partners and bring people on the journey in an effective way.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has a proven understanding of the Post Trade-Operations space, a strong technical product orientation, a passion for user experience, and an ability to turn sophisticated requirements into products that make peoples’ lives easier.

About the Role:

  • Aladdin Investment Ops Product Manager: inclusive of the road map, delivery, and results. You will translate product strategy into detailed requirements, and backlogs and partner with design and engineering teams to bring those to life through concepts, wireframes, and final delivery in the market.
  • Collaborate with Design Leads to optimize how we use data and UX research to define and solve user problems. Part of this also includes supervising external trends and being able to communicate these in a simple, compelling way.
  • Partner with Engineering Leads to ensure sprints are handled within our release cycle and testing protocols.
  • Manage customers effectively - communicate product developments in a way that partners understand what we’re doing and why. You’ll be encouraged to partner with other product managers to ensure these are in sync with other priorities.
  • Support the reason and rationale for new features and innovations.
  • Keep leadership advised of the team’s progress and provide a realistic picture of what is achievable with the resources at hand.
  • Work with Product Marketing, Client Services, and other team members on promotional plans to ensure that strategies are coordinated.
  • Quantify the value of features and capability improvement and metrics
  • Represent the firm and the product by meeting with clients to solicit feedback and be flexible to travel approx. 10% as needed.

About You:

  • 2+ years of experience in product management / business analysis / client service that includes building and launching technology in a B2B or B2C market
  • Understanding and awareness of post-trade ecosystem.
  • Can acquire a deep functional understanding of Aladdin and client use cases.
  • Experience and understanding of both waterfall and Agile project management subject areas, with an emphasis on Scrum.
  • Good written and verbal communication and ability to gain consensus on plans from a non-technical audience at varying degrees of seniority.
  • Positive attitude and resilience, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
  • Working with large-scale transactions & data volumes is helpful
  • CTM, FIX, and SWIFT knowledge would be beneficial

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
