Job Purpose:

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Technical Business Analyst to join our software engineering team in our Data Analytics department.  This technical business analyst role will be responsible for gathering, analyzing and documenting requirements, work with the teams to create solutions, perform QA and help implement and roll out the solutions. Candidate should have first-hand knowledge of data and data driven applications, the software development process, and a solid understanding of general IT fundamentals.


Job Duties:

  • Create and present functional and technical requirements to business and IT teams and write user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Analyze problems/projects to identify scope and root cause and then document the outcomes
  • Work with various users at all levels IT Teammates, Business Managers, Executives and end users to plan and offer automated solutions, process reengineering and manage expectations and progress
  • Discover functional dependencies and help make recommendations on system/business solutions to mitigate risk
  • Facilitate data requirement review sessions with functional owners and end-user representatives
  • Be the go-to-person Subject matter expert (SME) on all projects under their responsibility
  • Write and review test cases and perform QA/Testing
  • Manage UAT with end users including coordination and user acceptance signoff
  • Prepare user and technical documentation
  • Lead agile teams through iterative development for assigned projects
  • Meticulously prepare and maintain all project artifacts such as functional requirements, action items, decision points, test cases, project timelines, gap analysis, meeting notes and agendas
  • Participate, lead or conduct project status meetings with key project stakeholders and Team members
  • Keen ability to detect when a project is stalling and what course of action (technical or operational) is required to get the project or issue back on track
  • Managing technical/operational problems and follow through on resolution
  • Ability to chase down and helping to solve data problems by using tools like Excel, Postgres SQL queries, Python, JSon
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to break down/understand request and troubleshoot at every layer from the application to the database layer
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative data analysis
  • Ability to do agile modeling such as activity diagramming/data modeling/process modeling/system modeling to communicate to Software Engineers data requirements

Experience/ Education:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or Information Systems
  • Candidate needs to have 5+ years of experience working as a Technical Business Analyst/Systems Analyst/Data Analyst or similar
  • Experience working in strong Agile/Scrum team is required
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC, IIBA-AAC/PMI Certification/Agile Scrum Certification is preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of Data Integration as well as data warehouse concepts and standard reporting models
  • Proven production level Application development & support experience is required
  • Proficiency with PC tools for analysis, modeling and documentation
  • Develop a good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives
  • Clinical, healthcare, pharmacy experience -helpful, not required
  • Must be meticulous with special attention to details of the project
  • Analytical and methodical critical thinker
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, scope and requirements with the ability to multi-task and context switch on the fly
  • Strong technical coordination skills to drive requirements and technical design by working with multiple teams
  • Solid Project management experience
  • Team and customer service oriented, flexible and adaptable with proven ability to solve problems in a collaborative manner with strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written skills, with ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Must be able to simplify complicated topics, in a way that multiple audiences can quickly/easily understand
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills, influencing skills
  • Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Quick learner and has good memory retention
  • Highly self-motivated, pro-active nature and a passion for over-delivering while still meeting requirements
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner and give departments an estimate of work prior to performing the work
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and able to handle constructive criticism
