Technical Accountant

We are hiring a Technical Accountant to develop and maintain accounting policies and provide guidance on accounting and regulatory changes. As the Technical Accountant, you will stay abreast of the evolving accounting standards and regulations for digital assets, assess the financial impact of market trends and work to ensure that Phantom’s financial processes are compliant and accurate.

• Prepare consolidated financial statements, draft footnotes, and management reporting materials.

• Create and document accounting policy in accordance with GAAP accounting standards.

• Design and maintain SOX compliant controls for all significant accounting areas.

• Analyze and adopt new accounting standards as applicable to our business.

• Own Ad-Hoc or complex areas of accounting (ie. Equity and SBC, Goodwill and Intangibles, Lease Accounting).

• Support M&A activity from a technical accounting perspective and assist with preparation of purchase accounting.

• Work with FP&A on budgeting/forecasting items, assessing and communicating impact on accounting.

• Provide expert guidance to team members on accounting treatment when called upon.

• Assist team with month-end close as needed.

• 6–8+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance related field.

• Active CPA or equivalent license.

• Deep understanding of accounting standards and experience in real-world business applications.

• Financial reporting experience, public company or SEC filings.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain accounting procedures and prepare concise accounting memos.

• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to react to and resolve issues in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

• Bonus: Interest in crypto however professional experience is not required.
