The Manager, Indirect Tax Technology serves as a core contributor to the Tax Operations & Solutions Team (TOAST), T-Mobile's Indirect Tax technology and operations function. The role supports configuration and administration of Vertex O Series and Communications Tax products integrated with Oracle Fusion and Amdocs billing platforms. It drives end-to-end enterprise project lifecycle delivery — from tax impact assessment and business requirements through UAT and post-production validation. The role also provides analytical support enabling tax decision validation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, anomaly detection, and enterprise operational support. Success is measured by platform stability, project delivery quality, knowledge continuity, and the team's ability to scale through T-Mobile's ongoing tax technology transformation.Job Responsibilities:
Support configuration and maintenance of Vertex O Series and Communications Tax products, including imposition ID analysis, jurisdiction management, and transaction-level tax decision validation across Oracle Fusion and Amdocs billing platform integrations.
Deliver enterprise project lifecycle activities including tax impact assessment, business requirements documentation, UAT coordination, and post-production validation for small to medium initiatives.
Document Vertex configurations, integration decision history, and project lifecycle processes to build durable institutional knowledge; contribute to TOAST transformation roadmap execution and organizational resiliency planning.
Also responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business
management as needed.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience (Required)
Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. (Required)
Work Experience:
5-8 years Experience in indirect tax (sales and use tax, gross receipts, communications services tax) with hands-on work in tax technology systems. (Required)
5-8 years Hands-on experience with a tax determination engine (Vertex O Series strongly preferred; Avalara or similar considered), including configuration, administration, and transaction-level troubleshooting (Required)
3-5 years Active participation in enterprise project delivery including business requirements, UAT, and post-production validation in a cross-functional environment. (Required)
3-5 years Proficiency in SQL and experience working in cloud data environments (Snowflake, Databricks, or equivalent). (Preferred)
Experience with Oracle Fusion ERP or Amdocs billing platforms in a tax technology context. (Preferred)
Background in Big 4 indirect tax technology consulting or a multi-platform enterprise tax technology role. (Preferred)
Experience supporting M&A indirect tax due diligence or system integration projects. (Preferred)
Experience in a formal leadership or team coordination role. (Preferred)
