MGO is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our Business Management practice in Los Angeles. This role is ideal for a tax professional who excels at building trusted client relationships, leading teams, and providing strategic tax and financial guidance to high-net-worth individuals, executives, entrepreneurs, and closely held businesses.

Our Business Management team provides accounting, financial management, tax coordination, and advisory services to clients across the Entertainment, Sports, and Media (ESM) industry. As a Tax Manager, you will oversee tax compliance, planning, and accounting-related matters while serving as a key advisor to clients and collaborating with attorneys, financial advisors, agents, and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to optimize clients' tax positions while mitigating risk.
  • Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and LLC tax returns.
  • Oversee engagement execution, ensuring quality standards, project timelines, and client deliverables are met.
  • Review financial statements, general ledger activity, journal entries, and supporting schedules for tax accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze and resolve complex accounting and tax issues, including distributions, intercompany transactions, and other non-routine matters.
  • Support audits, lender requests, and compliance reporting by preparing and reviewing financial information.
  • Serve as a primary client advisor, providing proactive communication and exceptional service.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance oversight.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive tax and accounting experience, preferably within a Business Management, public accounting, or entertainment-focused environment.
  • Strong knowledge of tax compliance, tax planning, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
  • Experience serving closely held businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and entertainment industry clients preferred.
  • Proficiency with AgilLink/Datafaction, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Exceptional leadership, analytical, communication, and relationship management skills.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000
