USA Tier 1: $165,000 - $175,000 USD (SF Bay Area Metro, Seattle, NYC Metro)
USA Tier 2: $155,000 - $165,000 USD (Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, LA, Miami, Philly, Portland, DC, Sacramento, San Diego)
USA Tier 3: $150,000 - $165,000 USD (All other locations not listed under Tier 1 or Tier 2)
 

We are seeking a Tax and Compliance Manager to guide our tax planning, compliance, and regulatory efforts across a growing, multi-entity organization. This role will serve as a strategic partner to Finance, Legal, and external advisors while ensuring timely, accurate compliance across federal, state, and international jurisdictions. The ideal candidate combines deep partnership tax expertise with strong operational achievement and the propensity to help scale DistroKid’s tax strategy in a high-growth environment.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the company’s primary tax subject matter authority, advising Finance and cross-functional leaders on strategic tax planning, risk, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain tax compliance and reporting across an elaborate multi-entity structure, including partnership taxation, K-1 preparation and review, and ownership/tiered-entity considerations.
  • Partner with external tax advisors on federal, state, local, and international tax filings, tax planning initiatives, audits, and technical tax matters.
  • Assist in tax planning and analysis for new entities, acquisitions, and evolving domestic and international business structures.
  • Own indirect tax compliance, including sales tax, VAT registrations, reconciliations, and ongoing reporting.
  • Build and maintain a compliance calendar to take care of tax, regulatory, and statutory filing obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for government and taxing authorities, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-documented communications.
  • Oversee annual information reporting, including Forms 1099 and 1042.
  • Partner with Legal and external advisors to assist with GDPR, privacy, and other regulatory compliance initiatives with tax and business process implications.
  • Coordinate third-party compliance reviews and broader corporate compliance initiatives across Finance and Legal.
  • Track and report artist garnishments in partnership with Legal and Payroll.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax and compliance processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting.
  • Prepare concise recommendations and updates for Finance executives on tax positions, filing status, emerging risks, and strategic opportunities.
  • Coordinate with external advisors and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Finance) to document and assist on Section 174 R&D capitalization and amortization for tax compliance and provision purposes

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, partnership tax, or tax compliance within an elaborate, multi-entity organization.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership taxation, pass-through entities, and federal, state, and local tax compliance.
  • Experience partnering with external tax advisors, auditors, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies.
  • Exposure to international tax matters and coordinating compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to balance strategic tax planning with hands-on implementation.
  • Proven knowledge of how to build scalable processes and improve internal controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with the experience to communicate intricate tax concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to take care of multiple priorities in a high-growth environment.
