About the team
In this role, you’ll be joining the Operations team. The Operations team manages the entire order fulfillment process, from inventory management to shipping and logistics. As a member of this team, you will play a key role in supporting our customers by handling issues such as order tracking, returns, and exchanges, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
What you'll do
A Tailoring Lead will oversee the production, quality, and safety of our Tailoring Department. A garment and fabric expert, you will be well-versed in damage repairs and alterations. Leading a team of tailors, you will ensure that all tuxedos and suits are repaired and returned to the warehouse inventory on time. You will motivate, inspire, and lead a team of tailors with a “no job is too small” mentality. The Black Tux uses single needle, bartack, overlock, and blind stitch sewing methods and equipment. This position will report to the Inbound Area Manager. This role is a full-time, onsite position.
What You'll Do
- Coach, guide, and train associates on the best tailoring techniques and practices
- Performance manage and uphold internal metrics to set the department up for success
- Communicate challenges and act on corrective measures
- Report on the department’s performance using the WMS and Google Suite services
- Sews buttons and creates buttonholes both by hand and with a machine to finish garments
- Mark and measure garments with a tape measure for customer orders
- Use TBT specifications to cut, alter, and join garment pieces for repairs
- Decipher alteration tags and marks on garments to ascertain necessary repairs
- Monitor damage trends and provide feedback on the construction of our products for continued quality improvement
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and repairs on tailoring equipment
- Maintain a clean work area and address safety hazards with the maintenance manager
- Understand and be able to learn industry-specific technology
Who You Are
- Possesses efficient communication skills in both writing and verbal
- Hands-on problem solver
- Experience with tailoring machines and techniques (single needle, bartack, overlock, and blind stitch)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
- 1-2 years of leadership experience
- Curiosity driven

How we work at The Black Tux
Onsite
Onsite TBT team members need to be in person working full-time (40 hours per week) from an office, warehouse, or showroom. The reason being is that these roles have a requirement for a physical presence to do their job with customers, team members, or at one of our locations. We host a number of onsite events where all our team members are welcome!
